  • Griz Resign Top Free Agents

HARTFORD, CT - The Grizzlies front office has been busy, but no new names have been added to the roster yet. This is part of the front office's strategy for the team.

GM John Richert had this to say about the team's moves thus far, "We felt we were a coach away from the big game last year. So we brought in a new staff, and focused on locking up our key players for this year's run."

The positions that the Grizzlies are looking to improve are WR, RB, TE, and QB. They are also keen to improve depth and youth in the secondary. The Grizzlies bought some time in restructuring the secondary by resigning Roy Brown and Charles Reddick to contract extensions earlier in the off-season. Mac Breland is expected back, but who will start opposite him is a mystery. Conrad Delisle is gone, as well as Rodney Love and J.R. Dotson. Love was a possible starter for this year, but the moves have improved depth at linebacker and along the offensive line. Tracy Damien will start immediately at center. That is good news for star RB Julian Schwab who had trouble finding holes late in the season.

The moves have followed Richert's management philosophy. Build up depth in a position, and deal the extras to fill in other holes on the team. Asked for a grade thus far in the off-season, "So far, I need to give us an A, we have already accomplished everything we had set as a priority in the off-season. Anything else is icing on the cake." Asked for predictions for next season, Mr. Richert answered, "We'll be back."
