Fresno Fred here! I've been blogging since year one for the Fresno Bee, but now I'm on the national stage! My editors figured that with the Heroes (or 'Roes as my regular readers know I call them!) poised to have a season that has never been done before in the history of the IFL, and that will never be equaled or surpassed again (unless the 'Roes get even better next year!), that it was time for me to hit the big time along with them!
I was at training camp with the 'Roes this year, and I was stunned by the team! When the first teams scrimmaged each other on the first day it was like the scene portrayed on the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel, the first time that God touched Adam's finger, or the first time chocolate and peanut butter were mixed together. It was like the Universe made perfect sense, if only for that one moment. The defense stopped them on every drive, and the offense scored a touchdown on almost every play!
I was particularly impressed by the young players on the team--all three of them! The biggest surprise was the masculinely titled Leslie Lester, who just might become the best FB in IFL history--if he isn't already! Where does Hell Atlantic find these players? And at just around $3M, he is a bargain compared to the other greatest players of all time.
GM Hell Atlantic has proven on the field that he is a God among men. What's more, even though he has enjoyed immense success in this league, he still stays humble: "what i was able to do with this team in 2.5 seasons is remarkable. i need not toot my own horn, but still, i took it from the cellar of the league to on the cusp of greatness." Nobody can argue that he doesn't need to 'toot his own horn', or whatever the kids are calling it these days, but the cusp of greatness? He still has his humility! This team passed the cusp of greatness eons ago, and are well into the crater of triumphant ascendancy. This is the team that Jesus would play for if he were resurrected today, and even He would need to compete with Gilpin for the starting DE role!
I'll be back in a few days to talk about the Preseason...if I can handle not talking about the greatest team in the world and the genius of its GM for a couple days!
