FIRE ARE ATLANTA BOUND....
It was not long ago that the Imperial League came to Columbia with a new franchise and big dreams. During that time the Fire fans had the chance of watching several IFL legends grace their home field week in and week out. If it was not Julian Cartagena throwing deep bomb to his open receivers, it was John Maynard laying a huge hit on a player dumb enough to come across the middle. Every game was met with the same fan fair that so many franchises would love to have, and every week the Fire players gave their all. Even though the dream of winning a title may have avoided the Columbia faithful, the fans and players can take pride in their franchise while reflecting on the great games that they were all a part of. Those memories will never fade.
Today many players met outside the team headquarters to do one final autograph show for their local fans, and while there were several protesters that challenged the teams decision to move, their was a solid representation of fans who just wanted to take the time and say thanks. There were a lot of tears, and a lot of smile as the last truck pulled out of the Fire training facility and onto the highway heading for Atlanta. The era is over in Columbia, but new challenges and new dream face the Fire franchise and its time to turn the page to the next chapter in team history.
