  • Newsflash from Wichita Kansas

After routinely sucking it up this year word out of the Outlaws camp is that big changes are in store before next season. When asked to outline some of the changes the front office leadership said

"Well were not really sure what to change. We cant quite figure out why we suck. We cant figure out who is committing the penalties or even how to reduce them. We arent sure why our gameplans arent working and we dont really know how to change them to make a difference. We just cant figure it out."

When pressed for further details we learned the following: "It must be the coaching staff and the players. It looks like its time to fire the staff and overhaul the roster. At least if the coaching and gameplanning stinks, we can have some fun rebuilding a team that should be competitive as currently built."

on a serious note...i dont know if the coaching staff impacts these things or not but they are toast....someone gets whacked and its them...

does anyone know if coaching stability helps cohesion? i have generally tried to hold down coaching turnover and im not sure it really is helping. does revolving door coaching have a negative impact or can i tinker there until something clicks?

does the OC and DC have a role in playcalling or is it the headcoach that matters? how about the discipline and motivation? is that only the HC or do the OC/DC impact that as well?

I think that on of the main reasons why Hartford is so succesasful this year is because of the acquisition of Palmateer. Sure, they had a good nucleus of a roster before he came, but in my opiniion, he has been a primary factor that is responsible for Hartford's increased success on the field this year.

-from a pissed off manager in Hartford's division ... Palmateer needs to go back to the NC.

I would tend to agree with you. Sure I picked up Wortham and Hernandez this year, but they aren't guys that completely turn a team around. The big difference is Palmateer, and that the ball has bounced my way a bit more. I mean if we go back to last year, we were about 1 quarter's worth of time away from being a 12-4 team. We just had all the breaks go against us last year.

This year we've closed out games, and have come back fairly well. The game that really impressed me was the Norfolk game. Last year that fumble by Ferreira would have sealed the deal. This year we get the ball back, drive back down field and score.

so what is it about him that seems to make the difference for hartford...im curious what ratings seem to be magical...

and it also looks like coach continuity isnt helpful if a guy comes on board and blam things improve right away.

The final piece to the puzzle isn't necessarily "magical". It just completes the puzzle. Any of the pieces put into place prior are equally valuable but 99% of a system won't work - you need 100%.

And there are many combinations to this FOF puzzle.

Coaching continuity could be a major factor in 21 starters yet that 22nd that just came in can get by without it (although he'd be even more productive for the team with it).
