Well known for their lack of trading, the Lawrence Phantoms actually made two relatively big team-to-team transactions in the same week.
Leading the way was the departure of 2008 1st round draft choice Ike Jordan, a QB whom the organization was building it's future around until the last two weeks:
"I recently got a better feel for the way the league was headed (read: bought FOF 2007) and felt that Ike didn't possess the skill necessary to translate into a productive QB in the 2010's" said owner/GM Jester Blaze "Now don't get me wrong. We still feel he was the right choice at the time with that pick in that year (although in hindsight Cleveland's choice of Lamont Shephard, who was high on my board is a continuous thorn in my side) however the "suits" have had their way again and the future of this league seems to be even less on protecting the ball and more on "airing it out". This lack of concentration required by the quarterback forces us to move what was one of the league's prominent young passers for a back-up QB and, realistically, one promising young player at a position which the draft dictates.
On the other hand, the Phantoms have recently acquired the services of one, Ceasar Bosworth, a powerfull fullback who should provide plenty of holes for both Bucky "The Beav" Beaver and Harris Mahoney: "I'm not here for interviews. I'm not here for workouts. I'm not here for practice. I'm here to give many years of my life away in a very traumatizing way in order for the people of Lawrence to experience the joy that accompanies a national championship."
While the Jordan trade comes as a shock to the community despite Blaze's explanation of the situation (and rightfully so since he was billed 2 season's ago as "the future") the fact that a backup QB and two 5th round selections were traded for a (hopefully) impact FB, a backup QB and a 2nd round pick should be comforting to any long-term Phantom Phanatic.
