Wichita 2009 Season

Gonna make a run at posting a bit each week for the exercise of it all and to help me focus and remember what the hell im thinking when its over....

We have been a playoff team in the league and we have flirted with success at times...last season we closed out on a losing streak that cost us a playoff berth....new season but same old song in Wichita (which will be known occasionally as DooDah)....we are returning a ton of our horsepower from prior years...this should be a very good year for us...the real question mark is how our secondary responds with the deletion of Ortega (cap casualty)...we have upgraded our LB corps and moved over to a 3-4 defense...we couldnt afford two stud DTs but managed to find a sweet deal to make it all work...Martin being hurt in preseason wont help this effort...he will miss a couple weeks...Our young DL will continue to gel and QB Scott leads the same ole offensive talent another year...he is hitting full stride as a young QB and this should be a breakout year for him...Better be since he just got a new 5 yr deal to make him our QB for a long-time. The OL is very solid and looks the same as last year...we have plenty of depth and this group is very good...

Looks like a dud. I missed week one. The report from the trenches seems to be that the defense is playing pretty well and the penalties are hurting the offense. In our first game we played a pretty conservative running offense and it worked well enough to win a close game. In week 2 we went more balanced and tried to open up the offense a bit and it seemed to be about the same result for us. I thought Madison's run defense would be a bit tough and maybe i needed to throw a bit more than i did. more to come....
