It's being reported that Oakland quarterback Gene Hamilton has signed a 4 year deal worth around 50 million. While the Devil organization has not confirmed this, Hamilton gave us a thumbs up today has he walked out of the Oakland offices.
This gives all Oakland fans a huge sigh of relief as there were rumors that Jave would not be able to tie up both Martinez and Hamilton. With the offensive firepower of Hamilton, Bice and Martinez, opposing teams better start looking at shoring up their backfields for the 2009 season.
One step forward, one step back
It's also being reported that the Oakland Devils will be losing the anchor of their offensive line, Wayne Rogers. We spoke with Wayne has he was leaving Javes office late this afternoon.
" Yea, I am not happy but I understand. With Gene, Ernest and Kurt, there was really no dought that was not a power running team. I think I did a good job protecting Gene and Jave told me today I was being waived to make cap room to resign Gene. I understand. I am dissapointed, but I know that there are more then a few teams that will be able to pick me up to create holes for the runningback.
I was never able to really highlight what I could do here with the heavy emphisis on the pass, but you will hear from me again soon. I would love to team up with Connell again. Mabe, we will see.
So Hamilton stays and Rogers goes, but overall Oakland fans, rest assured that Jave will be gunning hard for the IFL bowl this year.
