Jon Cavazos, Tennessee, Fr. (6'1", 214, age 20) - 2008 stats (did not play)
There likely won't be a Jay Caro entering the IFL in 2009, but there will be a kid name Cavazos - and that's okay. The Indiana native came to the Volunteers as the 3rd-best high school QB prospect in the nation in 2008. What they ending up getting was an immensely talented player, but one with no college ambitions whatsoever. Cavazos's problems began before September even rolled around. Sources quoted him saying that he felt the starting quarterback spot should've been his to lose from day one. Three-starter Tyrone Donovan (another draft-eligible player) and Coach Bill Castillo disagreed. Castillo redshirted him and the rest is history. Rumor has it that Cavazos had his roommate show up and take an in-class Geology test for him. This before completely dropping out of school before the semester had ended. The bottom line is that you're getting a very raw and unpredictable player in Cavazos. Unfortunately, if you're in dire need of a starting signal caller you may have no other choice than to take a flier on this brash young man.

Nolan Farmer, Arkansas State, Jr. (6'1", 216, age 22) - 2008 stats (7gs, 89-148 (60.1%), 1,163 pyrds, 7 td, 6int - 63 ruyards)
If it was up to the doctors you probably wouldn't ever read about Nolan Farmer. After suffering his third major concussion in as many years, doctors told him to start thinking about a future unrelated to football. Farmer is determined to push on though and with that said he's one of the better 2009 QB prospects. Some might say he's trying to cash in before more problems arise by leaving school a year early - others would say he's making a very intelligent move since this is a QB class that probably lack depth. His playing in the Sun Belt doesn't sit well with some of the scouts as well. However, he was a Top 200 recruit in some publications, so does it really matter where he ended up? Despite all of his shortcomings, Farmer isn't going to have his heart questioned unlike certain other draftees. His coaches praise him and are convinced he has what it takes to play at the next level.

Travis Strong, Pittsburgh, Sr. (6'3", 234, age 26) - 2008 stats (12gs, 165-293 (56.3%), 2,435 pyrds, 19 td, 19int - (-)123 ruyards)
An elder compared to his peers, Travis Strong finished up his career at Pittsburgh in solid fashion. He leaves the Big East as the career leader in the big three (completions, yards, and TD's) primarily due to him being a three-year starter. Led the Panthers to a victory over East Carolina in the Hawaii Bowl before being selected to participate in the Senior Bowl. That's where his stock rose as he put in a solid effort, throwing two touchdowns in the second half and putting together what proved to be the winning drive for the East squad late in the fourth quarter. You could do a lot worse than Strong. It's almost a guarantee that he'll be busy on Sundays - it's just that he could be on the sidelines the majority of the time.

David Barton, Texas Christian, Jr. (6'3", 222, age 23) - 2008 stats (DNP)
Academic underachievers are rampant in the college ranks and David Barton is just one of many. After showing plenty of promise and being named All-Conference USA 1st Team QB in 2007 he was forced to sit out this last season. Perhaps afraid of the possibility of watching another season pass by, Barton decided to forfeit his remaining eligibility. Rated as a Top 100 recruit in the Class of '06 he has a pretty good arm and hits his receivers in stride. Barton threw for 22 picks against 12 interceptions in his only season as a starter. In the right system he might be able to succeed as a starter.

Bo Barajas, West Virginia, Sr. (6'0", 201, age 25) - 2008 stats (11gs, 157-352 (44.6%), 2,330 pyards, 13td, 19int - 58 ruyards)
Bo Barajas is the very definition of a hit or miss prospect. The former backup to current Beasts quarterback [ifl]Walter Wallace[/ifl], Barajas finally got a chance to start in his senior season. He didn't exactly impress anyone. So why is he highly touted? His bloodline. Bo's father, Frank Barajas, was a star quarterback in 80's playing for the Michigan Generals in the now-defunct United Football League. Does this kid really have a chance to be as good as his dad? Who knows? Pick him and find out ...
