1. As a new owner it appears as though you've tried to build this team quickly by establishing your mark by bringing in your own players. Talk a little bit about some of the big moves you made, and how effective you think they were.
We made 3 big moves - bringing in DE Gilpin from Montreal; vastly upgrading our O-line; bringing in a power running back in Larry Deason from Cleveland. out of those moves i'm most happy with the upgrading of the overall talent of the o-line. the o-line will be dominant next season as the guys become more acclimated to one another, so i'm not worried there. Deason, i was expecting him to be playing his balls off but i guess he brought some of the losing ways of Cleveland to California cuz he's just not putting up the numbers we thought he was capable of. he *should* be a masher, and catching passes left and right. QB Richardson's game is all about short passing, so adding in a RB who could catch a 2 or 5 yard dink pass or something out of the flats should have worked wonderfully but i just don't see that happening. Gilpin, well, let's just say if it weren't for Montreal picking up the signing bonus and him being such a bargain i'd be extremely underwhelmed. still, i'd rather have him on my team than not have him, so the only thing i can say is hopefully he "gets it" next season and he becomes the force everyone thinks he should be. still, overall, i think Year One was excellent, in terms of what i gave up and what i've got in return. i aquired 2 excellent rated players, and picked up several very good rated players, and i only wound up giving up a 1st round pick (we had 2 this past ammy draft), Bucky Beaver and a bunch of 2nd and 3rd round picks that may or may not wind up panning out. i'll take that any day of the week. and that's not even considering my FA pickups.
2. I've noticed offensively, that you just haven't gotten consistent play out of the QB position. Is Richardson the answer here, or has the experiment ended?
I said earlier in the season that Richardson would make an awesome backup QB, but over the course of a full season - no - he's not the answer. i shouldn't be saying this publicly, but i'm not saying anything that hasn't been already mentioned to him behind closed doors. he knows that for him to be on this team in the future it'll be in a reduced capacity, because he's just not young enough to be making the kinds of mistakes he's been making and we're not interested in playing the "making excuses" game. we're not a rebuilding team - this team can compete if everyone plays up to their ratings. no excuses. sorry, but next season if Richardson is starting a game it'll mean our first option is injured.
3. How much have the injuries contributed to the teams slow start?
we wanted to be a balanced team - hence us bringing in TE Alvarez, i didn't want people focusing on just the run. when healthy we have two real good receivers and a great pass catching TE, we really have been hampered with 2 of our big cogs in the passing game being out for so long (Alvarez and WR Emmit Terry). it's so obvious that teams are double teaming WR Caffrey, and it sucks cuz if we had either Alvarez OR Terry out on the field teams would be playing us a little more honest.
4. Why the Bucky Beaver for Larry Deason trade? I've always been a big fan of Beaver, so be gentle.
I've never understood the lovefest with Bucky in this league. He's ok, but was rather overrated and overpriced. I predicted it right on the money though - he was an older version of the guy i'm really in love with - JB Lincoln. Lincoln was an absolute steal in the 2nd round, and i'll be smiling about this one for years to come. but back to Bucky - he's essentially the same player that Lincoln is, except he was making more money and he has the distinction of being the RB i didn't draft. i just didn't need 2 scatbacks - i needed someone who could put his head down and charge through at the goalline for the td or just run over guys and pick up first downs. so far Deason has not been the player we needed him to be and hindsight says i should have franchised him at season's end and traded him instead of resigning him. but i can think of worse things than to have 2 starting calibre RBs on the team.
5. Where do you see yourself taking this team in the future?
i think next season is where you'll see us overtake Albuquerque as the #2 team in the division. right now the cohesion and chemistry just isn't there, with all the new faces. i really shook up the team and was just crossing my fingers that everything woulda fell into place this season but that was too lofty of a hope. next season is when we start to put it all together. on paper this team can do a lot of things, just a matter of time till the pieces all work well together.IMPERIAL FOOTBALL LEAGUE

Lincoln's stats will come down to earth soon. He has no hole recognition and very little elusiveness. He's only living on breakaway speed. [ifl]Gerald Baker[/ifl] has better RB ratings and look at the numbers he's put up."Larry Deasoooooooooooooooooon" -- Phil Jenkins

stop.
one game, yeah, it's a fluke and he used his speed to get the job done. two games, ok, anyone can have 2 good games in this league. but this cat has been doing it all season long. he's defying me to not use him. i can't not make him a bigger cog in this offense - he just gets shit done. if he was rated Poor/Poor and still putting up these numbers i would still be using him a lot cuz all i care about is dollars and cents and this cat is straight up money.
and don't go showing me examples of this cockless fag or that scrotumless sissy - every team is different. what kind of line is Baker running behind? i don't care about ratings (to a point), if Steamin' JB Lincoln can put up those numbers behind the O-line i assembled then that's all i need to know.
