  • SSN's Midseason Awards

[*]Cartagena is the talk of the league once again[*]Whitaker on pace to shatter TD mark[*]Rookies duke it out for top honors

  • #2
    MOST VALUABLE PLAYER

    QB [ifl]Julian Cartagena[/ifl], CBA -- 186-337, 2,594 YRDS, 26 TD, 3 INT (10 GMS)

-Cartagena is putting up sick numbers this year. The whole Fire offense is putting up sick numbers. Some might argue that Mercury Buckner deserves this award just as much. The chicken comes before the egg though.

Honorable Mention: RB [ifl]Wilford Timmerman[/ifl], HOU

    OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR

    QB [ifl]Julian Cartagena[/ifl], CBA

    -see above

Honorable Mention: WR [ifl]Justin Whitaker[/ifl], CBA

    DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR

    CB [ifl]Kenneth Jones[/ifl], ANC -- 7 INT, 65 YRDS, 15 PDEF, 28 TCKL (9 GMS)

-Jones is pace to break Garfield Rhodes' single-season mark for interceptions (12) and tie Dennis Perez's single-season record for passes defensed (26). You just don't see cornerbacks putting up numbers like these very often.

Honorable Mention: DE [ifl]Louie Maldonado[/ifl], STL

    OFFENSIVE ROOKIE OF THE YEAR

    RB [ifl]Charles Bell[/ifl], MAD -- 149 ATT, 607 YRDS, 3 TD, 4 REC, 14 YRDS, 1 TD (9 GMS)

-He's been underutilzed, but he has still put up the best numbers for a rookie up to this point. Has got another fella hot on his heels for the rookie rushing title.

Honorable Mention: RB [ifl]J.B. Lincoln[/ifl], CAL

    DEFENSIVE ROOKIE OF THE YEAR

    CB [ifl]Eric Jacobs[/ifl], NFK -- 3 INT, 118 YRDS, 1 TD, 9 PDEF, 23 TCKL (9 GMS)

-The 31st overall pick has made a large impact for last year's AC Champs. Had 6 passes defensed against the Seals in Week 4.

Honorable Mention: LB [ifl]R.J. Kley[/ifl], LAW; DT [ifl]Walt Farley[/ifl], MTL

uhhhhh...how is JB Lincoln not in the running for Rookie of the Year. he has more receptions and receiving yards and his YPC is through the roof. he's been so good he's forcing his way into a much larger role than i originally anticipated giving him. if anything, California's poor W/L record is his lone weak point, but that's not his fault. he almost has more yards and his carries are significantly less than Bell's.

i would really hope you would reconsider this.

Can I get a nod for the re-emergence of Chris Chaplin as maybe Comeback Player of the Year?

Jacobs has been a nice add to the Viper's D. I was hoping that his play would stay a little overlooked because of his low experience ratings. But now the cat is out of the bag! Thanks for the press anyway.

Can I just point out that Brian Dixon has an impressive YPC, at just under 4 YPC.
My banner is bigger and prettier and cooler then yours. I choose not to show it so your feelings do not get hurt.

you're impressed with "just under 4 YPC"? you would probably spontaneously ejaculate if you saw JB Lincoln's YPC.

I think he would have done fine in IWC this year. . .but I was thinking of the future. He was always a temp solution until I could develop my own guy, and I am happy to see him have the success he is having.
