  • Imperial Football League Fan Fare - Follow Up

Welcome to the "Fan Fare" magazine. This is a weekly press release for the members of the Imperial Football League Fan Club. In this weekly review we will take the time to break down a few games, select players of the week, and do a few Interviews with players, coaches, and owners around the league.

So for the first week we would like to welcome the owner of the Murfreesboro Mules, my favorite team, to our studio today.

Stewie - Welcome to the IFLFC Fan Fare Mr. Kobeck.

Kobeck - Thanks for taking the time to discuss my favorite football league Stewie.

Stewie - How are you feeling about your 2007 season so far?

Kobeck - The Mules FO is in the middle of a roster rebuild and Mules finished 2006 with only 3 wins so having 2 wins and being only 1 game behind the division leader is not as bad as it would seem to a more casual fan.

Stewie - Despite the 2-4 start, Do you see the Mules making a playoff run?

Kobeck - Mules are definatly in a position to help themselves in the AFCS. Hopefully the new Mules will continue to mature as the season progresses. As far as a playoff run in particular.... lets just say there is a reason Zoomie Monroe has not been placed on IR - yet.

Stewie - Otis Peterson is having a solid 2007 season, How much has he matured since last season?

Kobeck - OP, McGinn and Walton spent a lot of time at the facility this offseason. It has really shown so far. I am particularly impressed with OP when the Mules reach the red zone. Red zone production was a point of emphasis this offseason and OPs embracing the FOs priorities shows the young QB is committed to winning.

Stewie - Scott Fortune, this years #1 overall selection, has not shown the same flash he had in college... Do you see him struggling to adjust to life in the IFL?

Kobeck - Scott has had a nagging ankle since his first carry of the exhibition season. Although Scott will not say so, it is obvious it has bothered him. Even so SF has 276 all purpose yards. Despite being a rookie SF is a leader in the locker room and wants to win so his struggles are more a case of having an All-IFL player sharing the backfield and the workload.

Stewie - Thanks for your time Mr. Kobek, we look forward to speaking with you again soon.

Kobeck - Any time Stewie, and watch out for Brian.

IFLFC Fan Fare Games of the Week

Fan Fare Game of the Week
Norfolk Vipers (6-0) @ Iowa City Snipe Hunters (5-1)

The Vipers come into town as the only undefeated team in the IFL. But they face a stiff challenge from Iowa City who is coming off of blow out wins against Boston and Montreal. IFLFC picks Iowa City and their league leading defense to defeat the Vipers for their first loss of the season.

    Members Game of the Week
    Reno Wolfpack (5-1) @ Columbia Fire (2-3)

Reno takes the claim as the Members favorite team in the IFLFC. So our members have selected this as their game of the week. Reno has taken the league by storm with their 5-1 record and has big wins against division rivals Salt Lake and Oakland. IFLFC members see the Wolfpack keeping their winning ways with a lopsided victory against the struggling Fire.

    Stewie Game of the Week
    Fresno Chaos (2-3) @ Murfreesboro Mules (2-4)

Well since this is the first addition, I had to do a game on my favorite team. This game appears to be evenly matched with both teams looking to build on slow starts to the season. With QB Peterson growing each and every game we feel that the Mules have a chance to walk away with this one if they can control RB Beaver. Stewie says the Chaos win this one, but it will be close.

Thanks for your time. We will include player awards next week...

Columbia Fire 27 Reno Wolfpack 22

Well this game was as close as we expected. The game was controlled by Reno in all areas except the score board where Reno had issues finding the end zone. Columbia took advantage of all their offensive chances and followed thru with a victory.

Iowa City Snipe Hunters 10 Norfolk Vipers 6

What can you say about this game? One of the best stratagy games we have seen in a while here at the IFLFC. Each team controlled the ball, played great defense, and each team only allowed 5 scoring chance total. The difference maker was the Snipe Hunters ability to find the end zone on one of their scoring opportunites. It is official, no undefeated teams remain.

    Fresno Chaos 23 Murfreesboro 20

Well we where right here on this game being tight, how about an overtime win. Despite a big game from Otis Peterson the Mules where unable do anything in the 4th and watched as the Chaos came back to tie the game in regulation. The Chaos kept their momentum in OT and moved down to kick the game winner.

    IFLFC Record 2-1
