  • BREAKING NEWS.....OAKLAND GM TO RETIRE!!

He opens the door and looks into his office for the last time. There is the football for the Championship game....came so close! He sees the pics of year one, the beginning of a great run! There was alot of losses, but he doesn't regret a single one. Every single week was worth the blood, sweat and tears he poured into his team. He see's the bloodied jerseys from all the wars with SLC and thinks back to those times. DAMN, he will sure miss this shit! He see's the clipboard he left on the desk with last weeks gameplan. Should probably just throw that away, not his best work.
The assistent coaches are finishing up packing the rest of his things. Someone says the limo has arrived to take him to the airport. He sends them away. Just one more minute in his office by himself like he spend so many sleepless nights.

He looks around, turns out the light, and locks the door. Times change, and it's time for him to move on. He takes one last look behind him and leaves.

WOW, what can I say? It's been a fun run. The wars I have had in this league with seriously last me a lifetime. Cring, your the fucking man. Iron fist, but sensible enough to have the common sence to make the right decisions EVERY SINGLE TIME.
    Jeff.........FUCK OFF.
Suicane........lol, just saying your name makes me laugh. Your a fucking dork man, but your cool as shit and I would go to war with you anyday of the week.
Vito.......your a warrior man. Don't give up. And for gods sakes, quit changing what you know works man. We can't win every year.
I could go on and on. Roadrash, Dberner, the list goes on of friends I have made through the years. For those of you new to the league, thats right, YEARS.

It was time for me to move on. You would think that after building this team from scratch and watching them lose season after season I would stick around and reap the rewards. But with my work schedule and commitments I have recently made, it would be unfair to let this team do anything but succeed. And right now, I just don't have that time.
I was approved for Vanguard beta( http://www.vanguardsoh.com/aboutvanguard.php ), and I found out this weekend that Everquest has opened up a classic server ( http://eqforums.station.sony.com/eq/...essage.id=5480 ). For those who don't me that well, I spend 5 years playing EQ and just retired 2 years ago. The classic server gives me a chance to relive some of the old days and I have started a guild ( Kinda like the league, only for EQ ) and will be in charge of pretty much everything. My guilds success or failure depends on how hard I work at it, and I don't enjoy failure (This is where people insert snide remarks about my win loss record) !

But another factor is the game itself. It needs a major overhaul. It's starting to show it's years and the "fun" factor for me, has worn some. Enough on this.

I have talked to both Cring and Jeff regarding the status of Oakland. It was MY REQUEST, that Jeff take the team over. I have been fighting with this asshole since the fucking allocation draft, but as you old timers know, I just love the guy to death. He plays hard, he plays to win, and nothing gets by him. When he was forced to take a leave, he had to give up Columbia, THE best team in the league. The team HE build, and upon his return, gladly accepted Fresno, who blew ass chunks. Thats should tell ya about the character of this guy. Despite his status as reigning asshole of the year, there is NO OTHER owner I would want to accept the Assassins. They need a winner for a GM and he fits that bill.

I would hope that the league will accept my resignation with honor, and if I am able to return some time in the future, you accept me back into the league.

    I love you all.............PEACE.

    Ping: Vito

I'm writing this, as Jave is writing his post, to hopefully ease some minds that are probably freaking out right now. When Jave initially inquired with me about taking the reigns over in Oakland, I didn't want to do it. There were a few reasons for this. Number one is that I didn't want to be involved with something that would shake the league like this probably will. Two, I didn't want to live in Jave's roster, which was built pretty good (if I won a IFL Bowl who gets the credit?). Lastly, I started something in Fresno - did I just want to get up and leave that?

I thought about it for a good deal and then I took on another perspective. If Jave is going to leave no matter what and it makes him feel that much better that I'm taking over his team, then I can do this. I can relate with how it feels to see a stranger take over your team (see the prick that keeps on bringing up the Halbert trade ). I've done nothing but my best to put Fresno into a situation where they will be much better in future seasons, so this should put any sort of collusion thoughts to rest.

I kind of see this as starting where I left off in Columbia. Believe it or not, I've never become attached to my Fresno team like I thought I would, though I'm sure it would've happened in time.

Those are my reasons. Cringer has approved this, so right now it is very important to me that everyone else is okay with this move. I realize that everyone will identify Jave with Oakland for awhile, but I'm sure with some time you'll just associate Oakland with a dickhead (in the general sense).

I'll share more with what I'll be looking to do with this franchise in the future, but here are a couple of key things:

-Jave has built this team around a number of key guys who have been around since the league started. Unlike my situation in Fresno, it will be a goal of mine to keep as many of the stalemate players around.

-More than likely, a nickname change will be in order (at the end of the 2007 season). This will be to help put my "stamp" on the team. If Jave will allow me, I will probably run some possible changes by him.

Edited: for grammar and to give a title

Just to let you all know, I was informed this was coming before this post, and yes Jave came to both Jeff and I with the request of Jeff taking over Oakland.

I support the idea of Jeff taking the team over. I would rather have a new owner, someone who may or may not stick around, and may or may not be worth a crap, be put into Fresno. Oakland, as Jave says, is somewhat of a storied franchise for this league. Jeff has his reasons, which I am sure he will state at some point soon. (Jeff loving Vito has to be in the top 3 I think )

As for Jave, I am sad to see him go. I would prefer he stays but I understand how things are. He has been a great owner, and a big part of this league. And of course welcomed back unless it's a week or two down the road that he wants back in, then I will be pissed.

      So long sucka.

You all may give your opinion if you are ok with Jeff taking over Oakland or not. I just want to stress that I think this is the best thing, and really see no negatives in it.

edit: I see Jeff already posted. doh.

It's all good on my end. I'm sorry to see Jave move on. I think his attitude will be missed. I can understand not getting into "touch" with a team. It takes 2 or 3 season's sometimes to get this done.

I definately agree with changing the team name from "not the Raiders".

Good luck to both guys in their new situations.

Jave, I hope you come back sometime and join us all in this great league.

Interesting... Sorry to see you go Jave.

Btw, there's a good chance i'm going to jump in EQ classic server and Vanguard when that comes out as well. Maybe i'll see you in the game. I'll hit you up if I decide to play to get your name.

I was also addicted to EQ for a few years, leveled up to 60, did all the fun shit on Velious, Kunark, etc then the game got stale for me when Luclin came out so I quit. I'm not going to power game like I did before (so this isn't any hint i'll be quitting IFL, i'll do both), but I would like to level up a druid and goof off. I'm definitely avoiding any high level guilds and all that junk. Been there before. Way too time consuming, demanding and frustrating at times for a few mins of fun when you finally get to fight / kill something.

I do not want to see Jave leave the league. This just fuckin bums me out. Except for the 1 or 2 times i've tried to reach thru my screen and bitchslap you i've always felt like you added so much to this league. In general we arn't a real vocal bunch, but you always stirred the pot and thats a good thing. I don't think I would dig a league of 30 Javes but 1 was a perfect balance. I will miss you, the league will miss you. I hope at the very least you hang around and chime in from time to time, I also hope that at some point your desire to play the game again comes back and you rejoin us. I would like you to have right of first refusal on any and all openings in the league.

I've got no problems with Jeff taking over Oakland, it's probably better that he's in the NFC so he doesn't have to live in my shadow.

              Well that was unexpected.

lets see, one of the best gameplanning/strategic owners moving from the AFC to the NFC

don't see any downside for the Mules so I'm all for it.

In seriousness Jave good luck with your hobby and at least you got an IFL NFC championship to brag about, not that anybody will know what it is - lol

I have no problem with it. The only downside is we can't rib Jave any more about that 3 year plan!

Plus, it gets Jeff back in the NC where he belongs!

Jave should not be allowed to leave until Trash Bowl II takes place in week 16. Then he can leave, and Jeff can take over.

Of course, I plan on completly decimating Oakland that week, so there may not be much for Jeff to take over. . .

                      Will miss you  .

You are are rare one, and your departure will become a void for this league. Your relentless style and undauntlng wit brought that patch of color which has helped this leauge not turn into a typical "black and white" multi-player league. Thank god that you were not the only one contributing to that color.

I also will also remember our match-up in Imperial Bowl IV - hands down, a classic for the ages.

                      Good luck dude.

& best of luck to Jeff ... I agree totally with the logic of the moves suggested.

                          ASAP.

I am assuming Jave is leaving pretty much today as far as I know, and Jeff can take over. I already have an email out to a guy on the waiting list for the Fresno opening.
