Their defense has given up 71 points in 3 games so it’s highly unlikely that this year’s version of the Horses will make it to the playoffs but man was it nice to see them score 30+ points for the first time this year. At least this week they stopped over-feeding the rock to James Tart and went to the skies.
After going 1-1 with their run-first offense, Coach Palmateer unloosed the reigns on one of the hottest arms in the IFL and Booker responded admirably. Booker completed 33 passes for a franchise record 419 passing yards with 3 TDs and no INTs. Think he was feeling ‘ok’ last Sunday?
Very few teams dare Nigel Booker and Grady Gomez but the Newark Bulldogs thought they had the secondary to single-up on Gomez. Some 419 passing yards later (171 of which belonged to Money himself) the Bulldogs surely regretted that decision as they left SLC as losers in a 33-30 nail-biter
Crespo was on track for yet another 100-yard performance as he was averaging over 5 ypc in the contest. SLC coaches believed that Bulldog QB Scott Nelson could not go toe-to-toe with Booker and thus opted to throw early and often in the hopes that scoring would force the Bulldogs to try and keep pace.
Bulldog cornerbacks just could not contain the corners and Booker made them pay by hitting 8 different receivers for 3 scores and reminding the league that he and Gomez are still here.
