Some clips from the post game
Head Coach Jessie Lewis
"The gameplan was drafted by myself and OC Marcus Humphries. We thought we'd be able to throw the ball against their secondary. Nelson was under pressure all day, and didn't have enough time to throw the ball. Hindsight says we should've thrown shorter passes. This is a tough pill to swallow, but we still have confidence in Nelson. He really drove the team down the field at the end and tied the game up. We just played undisciplined on defense and couldn't stop them running or passing. This type of loss is very discouraging, but I'm proud of my guys for fighting back. We've got to get our defense to play better."
QB Scott Nelson
"I just didn't think I had enough time to throw the ball today. Our OLine wasn't able to pick up the blitzes today. They blitzed a lot. I've been in this business long enough to know you've got to stay even keel. I'm not going to get too worked up about a loss. I'm just going back to Newark to watch film tomorrow and worry about Lansing next week. No more questions"
RB Alan Crespo
"I had a bad feeling about this one right from our first team meetings on Monday. This game should've been about 'Sweet' and 'C Money'. I tried to get our team back in this thing, but that's a damn big hole. We just didn't pass the ball well today. We were told this was a 'statement' game by the coaches. This game was supposed to show off our 'new and improved' passing game. It didn't look 'new' and it sure as hell wasn't 'improved'. I'm a little pissed off today. 14 carries??? We're not talkin' bout practice, this was the fuckin' game here. Not practice! We needed to do what we do best, and that's run the damn ball. I know we got to pass too, but we didn't need to throw 40 times. I'm ok with an even 50/50, just get me the ball. See y'all in Jersey. I'm out!
