:!: Three teams have perfect records on opening day. Yes, Montreal and Vermont have never lost their opener; whereas Lawrence has never won the first game of the season.

Teams with 3-1 opening day winning records are: Fresno, Lansing, Louisiana, Newark, Oakland, Salt Lake City, St. Louis, & West Virginia.

 Teams with 1-3 opening day losing records are: Anchorage, Houston, Madison, Murfreesburo, Orlando, Portland, Texas, Tulsa, Vancouver, & Wichita.

Lawrence keeps the tradition alive and loses an opener for the 5th straight time.
Vermont and Montreal also lost, so both of their winning streaks end.

:!: Tough to do ... but five teams can claim the distinction of always having a winning regular season record in their history :

 West Virginia tops the list with a overall 43-21 record for the first 4 seasons. Includes 3 playoff appearances.

 Columbia is next with an overall record of 42-23 and a playoff appearance in every season!

 St. Louis, Louisiana and Vancouver are next with overall records of 38-26. Both St. Louis and Louisiana have 3 playoff appearances each. Vancouver like Columbia has had a playoff appearance in each of the four seasons.

:!: Also tough to do ... there have been three teams that have had losing records at the end of each season but each has the distinction of upsetting an Imperial Bowl winner during the season of that team's championship:

 Houston tops this list with an abysmal record of 17-47. In 2004, Houston knocked off 2004 Imperial Bowl Champ Madison, 10-6. Houston had 5 wins that year.

 Murfreesboro is next with a horrible 19-45 record. Last year Murfreesboro shocked Imperial Bowl Champ Norfolk, 13-10. Murfreesboro had 3 wins that year.

 Texas is last wih a 21-42-1. In 2003 Texas surprised Imperial Bowl Champ Orlando 24-21. Texas had 7 wins that year, their best season.

Honorable Mention: Fresno missed this list due to last season's performance of 8-8.

:!: Consistency for Excellence. Four players have the distinction of being named all-league for three of the league's four seasons .

Wesley Fleming ... A 13 year vet that plays LT for Hartford. He was selected 1st team in years 2003, 2005 and 2006 and is the only player to be named first team for three years. Over the course of his career, he has averaged 2.8 key blocks per game. This year he is back on pace with an average of 3.0 blocks.

Paul Pickett ... A 14 year vet that kicks for Madison. He was selected first team in 2004 & 2006 and second team in 2003. In 2004, he was selected as the MVP for ImperiaL Bowl II. This season, he is on record pace by kicking 4, 4, & 5 field goals in his first 3 games and without a miss!

Andrew 'Zoomie' Monroe ... An 11 year vet who plays DT for Murfreesboro. A second team selection in 2003 and first team in 2004 & 2006. Consistent numbers for tackles, hurries, sacks and has only missed starting 2 games in his career. Also a leader, as he is the current Defensive Front Leader of the Mules.

Jeffrey Gregorio ... A 9 year vet who was a SLB drafted by Salt Lake City and traded after his first season to Cleveland. At Cleveland, he has been selected as all league in each of the 3 seasons there -- first team in 2004 & 2006 and second team in 2005. In 2006, he was also named the game's Defensive Player of the Year. Impressive versus the run and can force fumbles from his opponent. Has a strong pass rush or will contribute as a formidable pass defender when not on a beat for the QB.[/b]

:!: Only one player has earned Defensive or Offensive Player of the Year more than once.

:shoot: John Maynard ... Mr. Maynard has been selected by the game as Defensive Player of the Year in 2003 and 2005. A "one-man" wrecking crew that plays for Columbia, he had 149 & 146 tackles in those years. This combined with very impressive stats vs. the pass (hurries, sacks, interceptions and defended passes) makes John Manard a one of a kind player. He is an 9 year vet and has many, many more seasons to destroy opponent game plans.

:!: Only one player has had the talent to be named the fastest or strongest player in the game more than once.

Irwin Kao ... Newark's LT has been recognized as the strongest player in 2003 and 2006. He is an eleven year vet and his strength has contributed to achieving first team, all-league honors for the past two years (2005-2006).

:!: Tenure ... There is a sense of job security in Cleveland and Texas. Both teams have maintained 23 players who were acquired in the league allocation draft in 2003.

:!: Pink Slip ... Players cringe when they are drafted by Columbia. The Fire have kept only 9 players from their original roster.

:!: Revolving Door ... Fresno and Murfreesboro have a tendency to load up with new players in the new season. Both franchises have signed 26 players as new to their roster in 2006, this year.

:!: Private Clique ... Iowa has a secret club mentality. There were only 5 new players added to their roster in 2006.

:!: Toughest Division(s) ... there has been lots of banter of which division is really the toughest, but where the rubber meets the road is 'wins'. Imperial League coaches have found that you don't want to travel EAST if you are looking for an easy Sunday. The EAST divisions of both conferences have the best won-loss record over the past four years.

 Through Game 4 of this season, both divisions have chalked up 147 wins each. The next closest is a distant 141 wins. Also, the argument can be made that the nod should go to the National Conference East in that all four of its teams (Lawrence, Newark, Orlando and Vermont) have overall records above .500. The American Conference East has three such teams (Hartford, Norfolk, and West Virginia) with one team (Boston) that is below .500.

:!: Patsy Division ... so, if coaches are ill-advised to travel East, where should they look for more fertile ground in order to grow their win-loss ratios? Hands down, the American Conference South has been the whipping boy :spank: of the league.

 The division as a whole has only fought to 118 wins (thanks to Louisiana and St. Louis) compared to giving up 152 to other opponents (complements, for the most part, to Murfreesboro and Houston). The next closest division had 133 wins.
