  • No Love for Loving

After a hot 3 game start (7 tds and 2 ints) Johnie Loving has gone ice cold in the last 2 games tossing 7 ints. and 2 tds. The front office has decided to pull the plug on old man Loving.

Edward Latham will get the starting job and he expects to make the most of it. Latham coming off his best year last season was slated to start this year but a preseason injury prevented him from being opening day starter.

The clawz managment is suprised at how well the season is going but expects the harder part of the schedule will tell how good this clawz team is. If we continue to play well 1st round qb Bart Alexander will have to wait to get some playing time.

What's your plan for next year for your QBs? Alexander has to play at some point, right?

Lathem is a free agent may or may not be back so I am guessing Alexander will get most of the action next year. I didn't expect to compete for a playoff spot this year so as long as I am in it Alexander will probably sit this year.

How good/bad do rookies play? Should I get him some spot duty this year risking the play of the qb? I will have to give a look at the other rookie qb's and see how they are doing. I hate not getting this guy some reps.

Depends. Anchorage made it to the 2004 Imperial Bowl with rookie Skip Hildebrand (1-28 ) under center. IMO, to get the most out of a rookie QB, a conservative tailor-made gameplan needs to be implimented. One thing you need to be concerned about as well is their "turnover" ratings, ie avoid interceptions and sense rush. You don't want to be throwing too deep too often as it will lead to an increase in turnovers and sacks, and with sacks comes an increase in fumbles. One of the best examples of all this working is Hartford's (now PIT) Jerome Mueller in 2004.

Remember that guys don't develop during the season without playing time OR a mentor. If Alexander doesn't get any snaps, you won't see his ratings increase at all this season. On my team I'm fine with starting Williams over Richardson (my future) because he's a mentor. I can expect Richardson's overall rating to be in the 40's by the end of the season.

        Hope this helps.

I just want to add that with Mueller I was able to play Hildebrand in that AC Championship game. If you need some tips shoot me a PM.
