Week 2

Offensive Player of the Week - 2006, Week 2	Ryan McCellion, WR, Dakota Spirit
	Though it was a tough choice this week with several outstanding performances, including McCellion's own QB Rocco Hooten, Ryan gets the award because he was he was the difference for the Spirit. He caught 9 of the 11 balls thrown his direction, for 198 yards. Second most yards by a WR over the last years. Two of his receptions were for TDs.

Defensive Player of the Week - 2006, Week 2	Stewart Lundquist, DT, Anchorage Lynx
	In a close game that had all the focus on the QB's, Lundquist made himself noticed. He stepped up his game towards the end and put constant pressure on Reno QB Costanzo to prevent a 4th quarter comeback. He finished with 8 tackles, 6 assists, 3 sacks, 2 blocked passes, and 4 QB hurries.

Rookie of the Week - 2006, Week 2	Courtney Cleeland, OLB, Hartford Grizzlies
	For the second week in a row Cleeland is the lone stand out among Imperial rookies. In a total defensive showcase by the Grizzlies, Cleeland had 6 tackles, 2 sacks, 1 QB hurry, and 1 pass defense.

Week 3

Offensive Player of the Week - 2006, Week 3	Harold 'Finger' Lozier, QB, Norfolk Vipers
	After a week 1 loss to West Virginia, some prematurely wondered if Norfolk was a one year wonder last season. If people didn't believe that was false after a week 2 win, they do now. The Vipers went into Portland and Lozier's passing helped them dominate. A 41-0 victory was the result of a 29 for 34 passing performance. He had 321 yards, 4 TDs, and 0 INTs.

Defensive Player of the Week - 2006, Week 3	Miles Poynter, OLB, Montreal Firebirds
	On the road in the mountains of West Virginia, the Firebirds were able to shut out the usually strong offense of the Beasts. Poynter was a leading force behind that effort. He had 9 tackles, 1 assist, 1 sack, 1 pass defense, and then forced and recover a fumble. Montreal won 15-0.

Rookie of the Week - 2006, Week 3	Skip Book, FB, Norfolk Vipers
	The two week reign of Cleeland as the top rookie ends with Book. In their smackdown of Portland, the 4th round draft pick had 13carries for 120 yards, including a long of 42 and an 18 yard TD run.

Week 4

Offensive Player of the Week - 2006, Week 4	Nigel Booker, QB, Salt Lake City Stallions
	After his team was down 28-6 early int he second quarter, Booker and Co. did not curl up and quit. They fought back. And in the 4th quarter the go ahead FG gave the Stallions a 32-31 win. The leader of that comeback was Booker. The veteran QB completed 23 of 32 attempts, for 339 yards and 3 TDs.

Defensive Player of the Week - 2006, Week 4	Evan Shoop, S, West Virginia Beasts
	West Virginia, sitting at 1-2, could not afford a loss to division foe Hartford. The defense made sure that wouldn't happen. Shoop benefited from the great pressure his defensive line put on Hartford, and was able to take advantage with 3 INTs. He also had 4 tackles, 3 assists, and had no receptions against him.

Rookie of the Week - 2006, Week 4	Tim Austin, RB, Tulsa Cows
	After a lengthy holdout which lasted into the start of the season, Austin took week three to warm up. Then here in week 4, he busted out of he gates. His 26 carries for 121 yards with 1 TD helped lead the Cows to their first win of the season. They upset Newark 31-26.

Week 5

Offensive Player of the Week - 2006, Week 5	Virgil Sepulveda, QB, Vermont Mountaineers
	Sepulveda put on a show against one of the league's top teams, the Columbia Fire. He completed 75.7% of his passes, going 25 for 33. He finished the day with 250 yards and had 3 TD passes with 1 INT. The 'Neers won easily, 37-7, and sit in first place of the NFC East.

Defensive Player of the Week - 2006, Week 5	Jose Gilpin, DE, Montreal Firebirds
	The Firebirds may have lost a close one to division rival and leader Cleveland, 20-17, but Gilpin was a monster on defense. Montreal never let the Clawz get too far ahead of them and one could credit Gilpin. This was one of the top defensive performances we will see this year from a pass rusher. He finished the game with 4 tackles, 2.5 sacks, 1 blocked pass, an amazing 8 QB hurries, and 1 forced fumble.

Rookie of the Week - 2006, Week 5	Otis Peterson, QB, Murfreesboro Mules
	It was a tough choice this week for the rookie award, with Tim Austin of Tulsa almost being a back to back winner. But Otis Peterson simply impressed us with the best game of his young career. The Mules get their first win of the year and do it against a very tough Norfolk team. Peterson was great, completing 67.6% of his passes (23-34) for 248 yards, 1 TD and 1 INT.

Offensive Player of the Week - 2006, Week 6	Boyce Groth, WR, Reno Wolfpack
	In a big divisional face off against the SLC Stallions, undefeated coming into the game, Groth gave the Wolfpack a big time playmaker and someone for rookie QB Duane Thompson to lean on to get them back to the winning ways. Groth caught all 10 passes thrown his way, for a total of 148 yards. This helped open up the whole offense for the 'Pack, who won 20-13.

Defensive Player of the Week - 2006, Week 6	Cory Grisby, CB, Vancouver Killer Whales
	The one win Whales became the two win Whales when Cory Grisby put in a great performance to help stop the Madison offense. Grisby had 5 tackles, 1 sack, 2 INTs, 2 passes defended, and 1 fumble recovery. Thanks to this performance the Whales defeated the Demons 30-13.

Rookie of the Week - 2006, Week 6	Hugh Whiting, K, Houston Renegades
	The top kicker selected in this past years draft made a big impact this week for Houston. He scored all 15 points for the Renegades as they defeated division rival St. Louis by a score of 15-9. Whiting's final stats were 5 for 6 on FG's.

Week 7

Offensive Player of the Week - 2006, Week 7	Bucky Beaver, RB, Fresno Chaos
	Bucky Beaver had an outstanding game to help the up and coming Chaos get a 29-27 win over the Wichita Outlaws. Beaver carried the ball 30 times for 180 yards, an excellent 6.0 ypc. Beaver ran the ball in for 1 TD on the day and added 3 receptions for 15 yards.

Defensive Player of the Week - 2006, Week 7	Richard Cade, SLB, Reno Wolfpack
	Another huge win for the Wolfpack in a divisional game. This time they took down the Oakland Assassins, 31-28. Cade was a big reason that Reno was able to hold out in the end for the victory. He had 9 tackles, 4 assists, 1 sack, 1 INT, 1 defn, and 1 forced fumble.

Rookie of the Week - 2006, Week 7	Duane Thompson, QB, Reno Wolfpack
	For the second week in a row Duane Thompson had to fill in for the injured Milan Costanzo at QB. And for the second week in a row he led them to a division win, this one getting them back to a .500 record. Thompson completed 64.5% of his passes (20-31) for 217 yards and 2 TDs as Reno defeated Oakland 31-28.

Week 8

Offensive Player of the Week - 2006, Week 8	Tobias Stanfield, QB, Lawrence Phantoms
	Lawrence won their 5th game of the year in a bit of a shoot out against the high flying Tulsa Cows. Stanfield completed 24 of 33 passes (72.7%). He went over 300 yards for the first time this year, getting a final total of 324. He also added 3 TDs. His one blemish was 1 INT.

Defensive Player of the Week - 2006, Week 8	Edmund Peacock, DE, Lawrence Phantoms
	To complete the sweep of the OPotW and DPotW awards this week, Peacock of the Phantoms put in a great game opposite Stanfield. His 6 tackles, 3.5 sacks, and 5 QB hurries gave Tulsa QB Taylor something to worry about all day.

Rookie of the Week - 2006, Week 8	Skip Book, FB, Norfolk Vipers
	Book perhaps became the steal of the '06 draft when week 8 was done and in the books. Book came out of almost nowhere to be a huge spark for the Viper offense. He carried the ball 16 times, gaining 130 yards (8.1ypc) and getting 1 TD on the ground. Added to that was 2 receptions for 16 yards, one going in for his second TD on the day.

Week 9

Offensive Player of the Week - 2006, Week 9	Angelo Hairston, QB, Louisiana VooDoo
	Whenever someone plays the Norfolk Vipers you expect a toug battle for that team. It was no different for the VooDoo this week. The much overlooked Hairston had to find a way to equal an on fire Lozier, and he did. Hairston completed only 17 of 30 passes but made them count. He passed for 249 yards and 4 TDs with 0 INTs. The VooDoo finished the game with a stunning 28-27 victory.

Defensive Player of the Week - 2006, Week 9	Dexter Black, WLB, St. Louis Cardinals
	In just his first game of the year, Black made a fairly big impact for the Cardinals. He had 7 tackles, 1 assist, and 1.5 sacks. The seven year vet surrendered 2 receptions but also defended one. The final piece of the puzzle for Black was a recovered fumble. St. louis won a much needed game, 16-10, in Boston.

Rookie of the Week - 2006, Week 9	Leo Meadows, RB, Montreal Firebirds
	Meadows, the 1st round pick of the Firebirds in '06, put together his finest game of his rookie year this week. 31 carries for 141 yards gave him a 4.5 ypc. He had one rushing touchdown. He also had 3 receptions for 13 yards. Montreal won versus Portland, 26-7.

Week 10

Offensive Player of the Week - 2006, Week 10	Jacques Crosby, RB, Reno Wolfpack
	Another Reno player gets a weekly award as they continue to be a hot team. Crosby, a top RB in this league has not won this award since week 12 of 2005. He certianly earned it, too. He rushed for 201 yards on 31 carries (6.1 ypc) and had 3 rushing touchdowns on the day. He also had 2 receptions for 17 yards. Reno won against Madison, 30-14.

Defensive Player of the Week - 2006, Week 10	Franklin Trigg, FS, Iowa City Snipe Hunters
	Iowa hasn't had the best season trying to defend their AFC North title, but Trigg did have one heck of a game against the Montreal Fire. Trigg made 11 tackles, 4 assists, and two passes defended. He made two big impact plays causing two fumbles on the day. Iowa City defeated the Firebirds 33-28.

Rookie of the Week - 2006, Week 10	Leo Meadows, RB, Montreal Firebirds
	Leo had a good game for the second week in a row for the Firebirds, although this week it wasn't enough to get a win. In a 33-28 loss to Iowa City, Meadows carried the ball for 31 carries for the second week in a row, this time for 116 yards. He had one rushing touchdown and 2 receptions for 15 yards.

Week 11

Offensive Player of the Week - 2006, Week 11	Tim Austin, RB, Tulsa Cows
	The Tulsa rookie, who had a late start due to a hold out, continues to impress. This week so much so that he skips right over the rookie award for this one. Austin stunned the top ranked Little Rock defense with 174 yards rushing on 23 carries, getting him a 7.5 ypc. He had 1 TD rushing and also had 1 reception for 9 yards. Tulsa upset the Toads 31-19 for their first win ever against LRK.

Defensive Player of the Week - 2006, Week 11	Drew 'D-Dog' Sandstrom, CB, St. Louis Cardinals
	With 'C-Dog' out for te season, the Cardinals defense was missing some of that flash of old. Sandstrom brought some of that into this game with him against the Mules. His play at CB was key to victory as he had 4 tackles, 1 assist, and 2 INTs. One INT was returned for a TD. STL won their third straight, 26-16 over Murfreesboro.

Rookie of the Week - 2006, Week 11	Wes Goad, DT, Portland Seals
	With Austin winning the OPotW award, we like to look else where in such a case as this. Wes Goad put in a good game against division foe Anchorage. He had only 3 tackles, but his 1 sack and 1 QB hurry helped hold the Lynx offense in check as the Seals won 20-17.

Week 12

Offensive Player of the Week - 2006, Week 12	Wesley Connell, RB, Vancouver Killer Whales
	Wesley Connell came into the Imperial League with a bang, and then somewhat fizzled out. Three years into his career, and his first in Vancouver, he is proving to be worth the initial hype. He gets his first ever PotW award as he led the Whales to a big upset win over Anchorage. Connell had 148 yards rushing on 33 carries, with 1 TD. He also had 6 receptions for 95 yards and another TD.

Defensive Player of the Week - 2006, Week 12	Hank Tran, SLB, Wichita Outlaws
	The Outlaws get only their third win of the year in Tulsa this week. Hank Tran made a big contribution on the defensive side by getting seven tackles, three assists, and two sacks. He also had one defended pass while in coverage.

Rookie of the Week - 2006, Week 12	George Crump, LT, Wichita Outlaws
	Crump, the 13th pick in the first round this year, may finally be showing some signs of developing into a good tackle in this league. He had a career high 4 KRB's in 7 atttempts, and surrendered no sacks to a good Tulsa defense.

Week 13

Offensive Player of the Week - 2006, Week 13	Virgil Sepulveda, QB, Vermont Mountaineers
	MVP candidate Sepulveda once again gives us a great performance, this time in an overtime win against the SLC Stallions. He completed 71% of his passes, going 28 for 39, and finished with 375 yards passing. He had 3 TD's and 0 INT's. This is Virgil's second OPotW award this year.

Defensive Player of the Week - 2006, Week 13	Augustine Murray, MLB, Albuquerque Matadors
	Albuquerque won their tenth straight as they shut out the Boston Dragons. Murray put in a top notch performance with 8 tackles, 3 assists, 1 sack, and 1 interception. Though Murray's stats may be down a little this year, this kind of game shows that he is still one of the better LB's in the league.

Rookie of the Week - 2006, Week 13	Winston Scott, QB, Wichita Outlaws
	Two wins in a row, and two mistake free performances from first round pick Scott, has Wichita hopeful things could be a little better in the future. Scott had his best game yet, with 267 yards passing. He completed over 60% of his passes, going 19 for 31. His one touchdown pass was the difference in a 16-10 win over the Mules.

Offensive Player of the Week - 2006, Week 14	Tim Austin, RB, Tulsa Cows
	With two games missed Austin probably will not get close to Alan Crespo's 2000 plus yard performance as a rookie last year, but he has done something Crespo never did. Austin, as a rookie, has now won OPotW twice this year, something Crespo only did once. Ausitn had the second highest single game rushing total in Imperial history with 284 yards. He also had two touchdowns as Tulsa defeated Iowa City 27-11.

Defensive Player of the Week - 2006, Week 14	Ronald Cole, DE, West Virginia Beasts
	The sixth year veteran is looking at having his best year since 2003 as he has been hot as of late. This week he had his third game in four weeks with atleast one sack. He had 1.5 this week, along with 4 tackles and 1 assist. He was putting constant pressure on the opposing QB though as also had 2 blocked passes and 3 QB hurries. WV won against Madison 24-6.

Rookie of the Week - 2006, Week 14	Otis Peterson, QB, Murfreesboro Mules
	Although the Mules did not get the win, Peterson had a pretty strong performance against a tough team in Vermont. In their 10-17 loss, Peterson completed 23 of 37 passes for 239 yards, with 1 TD and had 0 INTs.

Week 15

Offensive Player of the Week - 2006, Week 15	Nigel Booker, QB, Salt Lake City Stallions
	Nigel has put up some good numbers this year, and this is his second OPotW award of the year. He had a couple big 20+ yard touchdown pass plays this week to lead the Stallions back from an early 13-7 deficit to Reno. He finished he game with 290 yards and 3 TDs. He went 23 for 33 on the day and had no INTs. SLC defeated Reno 24-13.

Defensive Player of the Week - 2006, Week 15	Randell McCreary, SLB, Lawrence Phantoms
	Although we usually try to avoid giving PotW awards to guys on losing teams, McCreary made it unavoidable this week. McCreary recorded a season high for the Imperial League with 16 tackles. He also added 3 assists and 2 sacks. Lawrence still lost though, against division rival Newark, 20-26.

Rookie of the Week - 2006, Week 15	Tim Austin, RB, Tulsa Cows
	Austin continues to be super red-hot, as he goes over 200 yards for the second straight week. This week he manages to get 228 yards (72 on one run) on 36 carries and added another 2 TDs to his season total. Tulsa got an upset win over Columbia, 17-16, and have now won three straight.
