    Oakland Press, Oakland, Ca

What was once the strength of this defense is now littered with question marks. With the non-development of McCrary, to the career ending injury to Nickels, a total revamp is needed in the linbacking corps.

    Strong Inside Linebacker
    Bradford McCrary

Starting 9 games last year in place of the injuried Burl Nickels, McCrary put up decent numbers, but failed to slow down the opposing teams runningbacks. Without a suitable replacement, he will continue to start and Oakland has instead focused on stopping the run at the LOS with an imposing defensive line, rather then the linebacking corps.

    Weak Inside Linebacker
    Ken 'Tank' Allmon

Oaklands "Defensive Player Of The Year", continues to shine. 124 tackles, 42 assists, 2 sacks and 2 interceptitions, the Assassins were stunned to learn that Ken had not recieved a single league award for his outstanding play last year. Snuffed by both the league and the owners, "Tank" vows to play even harder this year to prove his critics wrong. 150 tackles 5 sacks and 3 interceptitions is not out of the question. The only limit to his abilities would seem to be him, as he has only missed 3 games in his entire career.

    Strongside Linebacker
    Burl Nickles

Nickles was once promised to be one of the best linebackers this league has ever seen. But then in the 8th game last year, that all changed. In a blowout loss to Vancouver, Nickles blew out his knee for good, ending any hopes he had of a steller career with the Assassins. Regardless, the Oakland coaching staff is giving him one last shot this year to see how much he has left in his knees. He will once again start at the SLB position, and if his knees can hold up through an entire 16 game season, he could continue to start for the Assassins.

Next week, we will look at the pride of the Oakland defense, the backfield!

well, considering that FA is still ongoing, the draft just started, and late FA is still to come, maybe WLB is not a set position. Jave must be bored to jump into his previews already when we are in the middle of the offseason still. Cool though, press is always good. Not to mention I could do a preview for my team too, since nothing is really changing at all this offseason.
My banner is bigger and prettier and cooler then yours. I choose not to show it so your feelings do not get hurt.

I have spend an insane amount of money this year. So much in fact, it's not looking good for resigning 2 of my best players for next year. The draft is a moot point for me with my offseason trades, and my starting lineup is already set. My work schedule is brutal, and today was really my last chance to do any kind of write up, unless my boss approves my vacation for next week.

So yea, kind of bored, a lame draft(IMO) and plenty of time on my hands. I am still glad I did it. It helps me to see my strengths and weakness's for this years lineup.
