What was once known as, "Tarts Playground", it's well known that the Assassin defensive line has been........a joke. Well, let me be the first the introduce you to the NEW, defensive line for Oakland.
Left Defensive End
Lance Delano
Delano is primed for a monster year. Playing in Vancouver seems to have put one of the premier defensive ends in the league, to sleep. Well, let me assure you, that will NOT be the case this year! Delano's numbers have steadly fallen in the last 3 years, but we fully expect that trend to be destroyed in 2006, as the Assassins have put together one of the best defensive lines in the league. While teams will no longer be able to focus on taking him out of the game, Lance will have the opportunity to shine!
Right Defensive End
Richard Mitchell
The Assassins traded their 11th overall pick for Mitchell, and it couldn't have come at a better time. The Oakland staff, after reviewing the rather weak draft this year, knew the time was ripe to make a move for a major player. Houston was itching to move up in the draft and with Mitchells contract comming up, decided to move this monster DE to Oakland. While he has not thus far made a major impact in the IFL, we expect that to change, teamed up with Delano and Nelson.
Left Defensive Tackle
Everett Brazinski
Starting as a rookie is tough enough, but Brazinski did an outstanding job, gathering 54 tackles, 24 assists and 2.5 sacks, in what was a horrible year for the injuried Assassin defense. Surrounded by talented players this year should break out Everett to make some plays.
Right Defensive Tackle
Derek Nelson
Thats right folks. The best defensive player in the league is moving inside to DT. That spells bad news for runningbacks league wide. No longer will teams run at will against Oakland, the move inside gives offenses no where to run. Nuff said.
