Today, we will take an indepth look at the Oakland backfield, that will lead this team in 2006.
Quarterback
Gene Hamilton

Starting QB Gene Hamilton is due for a breakout year. Making huge strides last year with mentor Mark Rowe, Hamilton improved his passing from 2951yds, 12tds 21ints in 2004 to 3829yds, 29tds 22ints in 2005. Rowe has been working with Hamilton this entire offseason in cutting down is interceptions and improving his field vision. With the 2 best recievers in the league at his disposal, the sky is the limit.
Runningback
Gaston Lomeli

Despite playing behind Connell last year in a very limited role, Gaston had his best year has a RB averaging 4.42yds a carry, adding 7td's. Playing behind a rookie offensive line in 2004, Gaston proved to be the real deal running for nearly 1300 yards and 5 scores earning a spot on the Oakland roster for life. The offensive line is hugely improved this year with the addition of Chad Jerome at LG, and resigning C Wayne Rogers with All World RG Johnny Ingraham on the other side. Oakland is promising a more blanced offensive this year, giving Lomeli every chance in the world to prove he is one of the best.
Fullback
Matthew Myer

One of the most dependable players on the Oakland roster, Matthew is improving every year, averaging 5.56yds a carry, and gaining 523 recieving yards and 5tds last year. He will be called upon considerably in 2006 to block for Lomeli and become a serious thread out of the backfield.
Tightend
Richard Ventura

As if Hamilton needed more weapons............Ventura has proved to be an excellent replacement for departed TE Joseph Flores. Awalys in the right place at the right time, Ventura had 5 td's last year and has been an excellent run blocker and protecter for Hamilton. Only starting 9 games last year limited his opportunities, and this year will prove to be a big one for the best TE in the league.
