  • Oakland Shores Up "D" Line In Late Night Trade!

    Oakland Press, Oakland, Ca

It was a sleepless night for the Oakland coaching staff has the trade wires were burning up for the 11th overall pick. General Manager Jave spoke with us briefly;"While this draft was one of the strongest overall, and there were several franchise players we were looking at, the opportunity to acquire a defensive end with the skills and potiental of Mitchell was to good to pass up.
We had a problem last year stopping the run and getting any pressure on the quarterback, and we believe with the addition of Richard, that will solve both of those problems with this single trade."

We also managed to get Derek Nelson on the phone, who was injuried last year to get his views;"This is huge for our team, and city. After my injury last year, Doc tells me I will no longer be able to put the hard pressure on my knees to make the upfield cuts, and side to side movements, so I needed some help this year on the line. I know Mitchell, me and him hung out a bit over the summer last year, and this guy is a class act. Our whole team welcomes him to the city of Oakland."

More to come tommorow, has it's rumored that the Assassins have resigned a good deal of players, and will make the announcements in the morning. From Oakland, this is Oakland press, Oakland, California.

You finally got some luck Jave. I was a couple minutes too late in offering the #5 pick for Mitchell!

The #5? For a 7-year DT in the last year of his current contract that has a career 4.5 pass rush percentage?

It was going to be contingent on the draft and included other picks so it wasn't going to be tonight like Jave's but, yeah. I figured I'd leave out the details to let Jave enjoy luck being on his side for once as he might've not got his player.

This draft class has some great players, but no one I'm really interested in. Other than his endurance I really like the division of Mitchell's attributes and figure he'll be around for about 10 more seasons.

It's not awalys about what a player has accomplished, some trades are more centered on what potiental a player has, and what he can do for me in the future.

Mitchell played very well for us in the playoffs it was either him or Lunquist I went with Lundquist. Hell probably should of kept him despite the so called conflict...

He's a 7th-year guy, Jave. I bet his ratings won't go up any further.

Not his rating Jeff, his production on the field. Thus far, he really has not produced like he probably should have. With the right game plan, and Nelson on the other side, he should have a break out year.
