With the Portland Seals under new management, many fans wondered if the franchise would look for a new head coach to lead the team into the 2006 season. That thought was put to rest when it was announced that Reuben Allen re-signed with the Seals yesterday for three more seasons at $2,430,000 per year. The 60-year-old head coach hopes to build on his surprisingly successful 2005 season in which the Seals captured the AC West division title with a 9-7 record.
Seals General Manager, Jimmy Fuller, spoke to the press following the announcement and noted the importance of re-signing Head Coach Reuben Allen. “With so many new faces in the Seals front office, we felt it was important to retain Coach Allen due to his familiarity with the franchise. He’s obviously had some success here in Portland and we in the Seals front office have no doubts that he will continue to have success here,” answered Fuller. “It makes everyone’s job easier when you have an experienced hand like Coach Allen at the helm.”
