Rebuilding the Beast: Horsetooth Ogres Begin the Long Road Back
Imperial Football League — Horsetooth Bureau

Horsetooth, CO — For the first time in years, there’s a flicker of optimism around Ogre Field. After winning just eight games in four seasons, the Horsetooth Ogres enter the offseason with new leadership, a young franchise quarterback, and a plan to dig out from years of dysfunction.

The new management team has called the task ahead “daunting but doable.” With $93.7 million in cap room and a handful of cornerstone players, the Ogres are poised to rebuild from the trenches outward...
    Quarterback: The Foundation Piece

Rodney Ingram is the future. The third-year passer has flashed legitimate star potential, and the front office intends to build around his talent and leadership. Giovanni Tresca and Dakota Peterson provide developmental depth, though the priority is keeping Ingram upright and supported.
    Backfield: Searching for Power

The trio of Kenneth Venable, Vincent Coffey, and Pat Drickman brings finesse and versatility, but not the north-south punch this offense craves. Expect the Ogres to target a true power back through the draft or free agency. The fullback slot will also see turnover, with Grant Johnson not expected to return.
Receivers & Tight Ends: Aging Core, Thin Depth

Veteran wideouts Wendell Kamphaus and Harris Strong remain productive but costly. Restructures are likely as the team transitions to youth. Promising restricted free agent Tito Weber should return as a secondary option.

At tight end, it’s a clean slate. The trio of Williams, Grier, and Wolf underperformed, leaving this as a prime position of need in Jason Moskowitz’s Air Coryell scheme — where vertical threats and blocking balance are essential.
Offensive Line: Patchwork, But Not Hopeless

Anchored by Jonah Raven at right tackle and Abel Branch emerging at left tackle, the O-line has stability on the edges. The interior, however, needs reinforcements — particularly at center and right guard. If the Ogres can fortify the middle, Ingram’s development will accelerate.
Defensive Front: Scheme Shift in Progress

New defensive coordinator Bryan Fariman inherits a unit in transition from a 3–4 to a 4–3 base front. The good news: there’s talent up front. Wendell Shaw and William Nwokorie give the Ogres capable bookends inside and out. Depth behind them is thin but serviceable.
Linebackers: Doyle and Fox, Then Questions

Cody Doyle remains a stalwart and will anchor the middle as the scheme changes. Clarence Fox provides leadership on the weak side, while Randy Salo shows developmental upside. Beyond that, the cupboard is bare. Expect major roster churn here — Fariman’s specialty group will see plenty of new faces.
Secondary: Corners Decent, Safeties in Flux

Aiden Sutter and Marcos Anthony headline a young corner group with promise, but the safety room is thin and in need of an overhaul. The front office has made no secret of its intention to address this through both the draft and free agency.
    The Big Picture

With only 26 players under contract, Horsetooth’s rebuild is in its infancy. Yet, there’s finally structure and direction. The combination of Ingram’s rise, ample cap flexibility, and a management team lauded for its scouting and player development gives reason for hope in Ogres country.

The challenge is immense — transforming a perennial doormat into a contender won’t happen overnight. But as the Ogres begin the long climb back, one thing is clear: this time, there’s a plan.
“We’re not just filling roster spots,” said General Manager Rick Vicedo. “We’re building a foundation that can last. It’s about smart scouting, strong development, and bringing pride back to Horsetooth football.”

For a franchise long adrift, the message is simple — the rebuild starts now!
