The Atlanta Free Sports Press announced that beat writer Oliver Closeoff will begin covering the Columbia Fire as part of the area’s coverage to introduce the Fire to their new home town fans….

COLUMBIA DISMANTLED BY SALT LAKE 34-18...........
It was only a matter of time before the Fire's new management felt what it was like to lose a game. In a game that many where touting as a possible NFC Title game match up, the Fire watched as the Stallions kicked the team back to reality with a 34-18 stampede. After the game completed fans saw a very heated exchange between Fire's Head Coach Pearson and Defensive Co-coordinator Merriman. While Coach Pearson would not address the conversation between him and Coach Merriman, he did take time in his post game press conference to address the team’s loss. "Its hard to lose a game like that, Salt Lake was on fire today!" he said. "We can only hope that we can get healthy and get some new blood in here, we have a very tough few games coming up...”, those comments coming from the coach after learning that star CB Dallas Brockway was lost for the season with a MCL tear. Another injury to a once stellar secondary that has seen 3 of the teams top 4 corners find their way to injured reserve this year. Can Columbia re-ignite the FIRE and make Norfolk feel the burn? Time can only tell....

ATLANTA OWNERSHIP ASKING QUESTIONS…..
Now that the new owners have had time to look over the books and start crunching numbers. There are some major concerns about this team’s direction in the near future, and ownership has called a closed door meeting with the team General Manager and Coach Pearson to discuss where this team his heading, both on the field and off. One major sticking point is the team durability and how the team plans on addressing its 19 free agents at the end of the year.

BROCKWAY LOST FOR SEASON…..
Team doctors successful operated on star CB Dallas Brockway’s injured knee this afternoon and all appears to have gone as planned. Team doctors have stated “It’s all up to Dallas now! He will need some time to recover from surgery, but should be able to begin rehab on the knee in a few months.”
