  • The Downward Spiral

    Oakland Press, Oakland, Ca

News has been quiet out of Oakland latley, and rightfully so. The Assassins have began a downward spiral that doesn't look to end anytime soon.
After a 4-1 start, spirits were high in the bay area. Averaging 34 points a game, and running a 60% clip on 3rd downs, teams were lucky to even stay close to the dominant Oakland juggernaught. Then........it all fell apart.
First losing key LB Minard, then rookie LDE Wells started a chain of events that has yet to see an end. In that span, the Assassins also lost TE Ventura, WR Bice, WR Martinez, WR Tessier, RG Ingraham broke his hand, and all world DE Derek Nelson was lost for the season with a torn lateral knee ligament.
We had a chance to speak to Oakland GM Jave, " Where the fuck does it end? Who is left? I guess Hamilton and Connell will go down in the fucking Vancouver game. Then, I can go on the field and get wasted to. That should just about do it. This shit has tested my patience to no end. Three years I spend waiting for this year, only to be torn apart. I have nothing more to say."
Oakland has next week off, however, they face a do or die game vs Vancouver. Lose that game, and the season is over. More from Oakland next week, as we see how hated rival SLC does in their quest for the league title.
