A little bit of a flip flop from last week. It was actually more like a flop. We went 1-3 last week.

Game of the Week
ORL(-5) @ VER
There are a number of great games this week, but this NFC East matchup takes the cake. ORL is coming off of the bye. THeir injury problems look to be behind them. VER lost last week vs. LAW. This week, in the first snow game of the year, Dewit Flynn will hold the ground game and Hynes will be effective enough in this game. The 5pts is a lot to cover vs. VER D, but ORL will win by 6 and will in fact cover the spread
LAN @ TEX (-1)
The winless team is favored here by 1pt. Mr.Chung is solid, but LAN will win this game hands down.
MON @ LOU (-1)
MON gets to play a good team. They'll have an opportunity to get some respect. This is a team that they should beat, but I don't see it happening. LOU wins this one, no doubt
REN @ SLC(-4)
SLC does not like to lose. Their O was held in check last week vs. NWK. This won't be the case this week. Look for a double digit shallacking of the Wolfpack

I try to stay even keel when it comes to rankings. That being said the only change I have is STL coming in the top 5. I did not hold the COL loss against them too much, nor do I feel LRk is better than COL at this point. STL's win vs. MON was less than impressive, although I understand the injury problems they are going through. This is why they cracked the top 5. G Marshall Cuomo of the impressive G draft class of 04 is developing nicely. LAW and IWC could soon find their way into the top 5 if they continue to play well.
This week I was flattered by the opportunity to sit down with the Commish of the Imperial Football League, Mr. Jonathan Dykes.
1.Commissioner, now that the league is a year old, what is your impression of the league?
I am happy with the league up to this point, although I am always trying to make it better. I want guys to want to come check the boards and discuss things every day, and until that starts to happen I will keep working towards it. We have great owners, and I can honestly say that since the end of season 1 I do not think we have had an ownership change that did not end up being better for the league.
2.What are some of your best league memories from the last year?
I think seeing how the playoffs fell last season was one of the best things to go through. Between the Hartford and Anchorage runs, and the drama of how the NFC would play out between Madison, Columbia, Salt Lake, and Madison. There were almost too many story lines.
3.Do you have a favorite, or a group of favorite players, that you like to watch?
I think I am like most guys, I like to watch the rookies and see how they do. I also like to follow surprise players who may not have the ratings. Like Montreal's QB Shropshire, St. Louis' RB Felts, those are two right now. Also try to keep up with some of the big names who get traded.
4.Are there any teams which you follow as a fan or watch more closely than others, on occasion?
I tend to watch them all since in some ways I am forced to anyways. Teams that are interesting right now though are the ones who are turning things around. Oakland, Norfolk, Pittsburgh, Iowa City, Montreal. St. Louis has caught my eye because I didn't think they would be so strong, and all the changes Newark made has me watching them every week. Also, I can't help but cheer on the guys struggling, I hate to see guys lose a lot because I don't want them to stop having fun. I'm sure we all know what teams are at the bottom....
5.What are your impressions on the new league doping policies? Is it effective?
It's effective. And needless to say we have permanent testing facilities set up in Oakland and Orlando. Those black uniforms make us suspicious. We are also eyeing a facility in Murfreesboro.
On a sad note, Columbia Fire GM Jeff, abrubtly walked away from his position. Jeff was truly one of the very best owners in the history of the Imperial league. His brash, no-nonsense style will surely be missed. Good luck in your future endeavors, Jeff. We'll all miss you!
