We recovered in our picks from last week, going 2-2. Let's get right to the picks
    Season record 3-5

    Game of the Week
    WV @ NFK (-5)
Norfolk is for real this year, however WV is going to win this game. WV will win because of strong play from Sanders, and NFK's injury problem at the RB position

    VER @ REN (-3)
Virgil should return from injury and lead his team to victory. It should be close, but Vermont will win this one.

    BOS @ FRE (-5)
The growing legend of Reuben Sante will roll FRE. Well atleast they'll cover the 5pts.

    IWC (-2) @ STL
The weather will be a factor in this one. With STL being a passing team, and IWC running the ball. I'll take IWC to win and cover based largly on their overpowing running game.

    Vic's Top 5
Here are my top 5 teams.
    1.Little Rock Toads
    2.Orlando Pirates
    3.Columbia Fire
    4.Oakland Assassins
    5.Norfolk Vipers

I recently had the privilage of sitting down with MUR GM Kobeck. As the mules are on bye week, special time was made to make this happen. Here is the transcript
    1. The Mules have been considered among the worst teams in the IFL. Is there a plan in place to turn this ship around?

The Mules do in fact have a plan, unfourtunatly it will involve the Owner to learn more about the game. Fourtunatly for the 58,000 season ticket holders that process began with the 2005 offseason. There have been quite a few stastitical improvements for the Mules. Run D in particular was a point of emphasis this offseason and the Run D has improved.

    2. What are biggest holes that you feel you need to fill

Mules need an Edge LB and another CB. Comming out of the draft the Mules were hoping Donaldson could make the conversion to RCB, so far we got him projected as a Nickle. Some would say that QB is a continuing problem for the Mules, but Willoughby is not the reason the Mules are 0-4 and the Murfreesboro front office gives Willoughby their hearty vote of confidence.

    3. What are your feelings on your last 2 rookie crops. Who is good? Who are you waiting for to develop ? Who is not as good?

In 2004 the Mules acquired LT Barnhill and he has been a vast improvement. From that same draft Duffy could not yet be considered a bust, yet that is. From 2005 the Mules had the good fortune of Brandon Cox falling to them at 7th overall. As with Barnhill Cox has been a vast improvement. I have to make mention of converted DT Oliveria playing opposite of Cox. Oliveria has had an excellent rookie season so far and again he is a vast improvement at the position, plus he allows Ash and Monre to stay inside where they dominate.

    4. Any lingering issues with IFL league officials concerning the "improper" IFL contracts and IFL imposed signings.

None. The Mules front office accepts the IFL rulings and imposed signings, while at the same time denying any wrong doing. Mules will be pressed with the CAP for a few seasons, hopefully some of the veterans step up with renegotiations.

    5. Any parting statements?

Yes the Mules started the season 0-4 on the road and have a bye before a crucial home stand. There has been no one thing that is the cause of this - EXCEPT TO's and 3rd down D.

Thank you very much for your time and cooperation with this Kobeck!

    Until next week,
