  • Oakland Returns Home

    Oakland Press, Oakland, Ca

Watch out IFL, the Oakland Assassins are home, and ready to continue their run through the league. Running their record to a perfect 3-0, all 3 on the road, it's shocking to look back and realize that this team has not lost a game, including the pre-season, since week 15 of 2004, when they dropped a close one to SLC 27-21!
The new coaching staff has alot to do with this. Head coach Britt Hatcher is nothing short of genius, getting the most out of every player, understanding game plans, and adapting quickly to opposing teams defensive game plans.
New offensive and defensive coordinators Ricardo Redd and Stanley Moore bring a youthfull energy to the coaching staff, unconcerned with what has happened in the past, only vowing to give everything they have to this team, week in and week out, 20 hours a day, whatever it takes.
The real difference in this years team is one player. Kurt Bice. This guy can do it all, stretching defense's, forcing them to cover him, opening up the floodgates for the other recievers on the field, blocking, calling out assignments to adjust to the defense at the line of scrimage.......He is this teams MVP thus far.

This weeks game brings the undefeated Orlando Pirates to the "Black Hole". Much like Oakland, the Pirates are young, motivated, and loaded with weapons. Quarterback Harrison Hynes is one of the leagues best, already throwing for 800 yards and 6 td's. Runningback Dewitt Flynn was 2004's League MVP, and can break one everytime he touchs the ball.
In an interview with Oaklands general manager Jave, nothing will change for this game. " We don't change things around depending on who we play each week. We go out and do what we do, and teams are forced to adjust to us. Is this a big game in our mind? No. This is just game 4, thats it. We don't care who you are, or what you are ranked. We bring the pain every week regardless."
Only a couple days remain untill the game, and we expect a huge showing. More from Oakland after Sundays game.
