Prognosticator, I am not. I admit it. I do feel that I am somewhat of a football expert, but last week showed that I'm also not that. I chose SLC to win and cover vs. MAD. This is the only game I got right. Not a good track record for Vic Carucci. Let's try and get things turned around this week. To the games!
People always throw out the term "toughest division". I called the NFC West the toughest this year. VAN is making me a liar. Since the 2004 season the NFC East has had a combined 31-17 vs. the rest of the Imperial league. That's a 65% winning pct. That being said, the game of the week is
ORL (-4) @ OAK
ORL will try their best work RB Dewitt Flynn. OAK will counter this with their potent offense putting ORL down early. Hynes will try to bring the Pirates back, but OAK will hold on for the win.
LRK(-2) @ TEX
The LRK offense will come out in this game and blowout TEX
MAD @ TUL (-2)
MAD will break the streak and come out on top.
MUR @ MON (-9)
This is a big spread to cover. Shropshire will try his best to keep this one close with a few timely TO. However, MON will win. Good news for MUR, they will cover the spread
Here are my top 5 teams.
1.Little Rock Toads
2.Oakland Assassins
3.Orlando Pirates
4.Columbia Fire
5.Salt Lake City Stallions
One division that really confuses me is the AFC West. The 2 worst teams in that division are playing great. They've come out of nowhere and put a real strangle hold on that division. The other 2 teams (ALB,ANC) are having some real issues scoring and playing defense.
Word out of Hartford, has management in an uproar. They've scored only 16pts in 3 games. QB Jerome Mueller has struggled mightily this year, and rookie RB Stanley Jamison has found it difficult to find holes to run through. Some members of the local media are chastizing management for trading QB Scott Nelson this past offseason. Don't give up on HAR just yet, though changes may be coming. Big changes.
The Norfolk Vipers proved that they're no fluke as the beat IWC last week, rather handily. RB William Brown has played well this young season. Look for Norfolk to continue to be hot and be the winners of their division. They have the talent, now their playing like a team. We'll see how they do head to head with WV
That's all for now, until next week,
Vic
