Playoffs!?!?
by Spark Wonup
It's only a single eight letter word (nine digits if you use a hyphen, I guess) but it's sometimes all that is needed to send a football coach over the edge. Phantoms' Head Coach Hunter Crawford was the latest to go off the hinge when provoked by the mere mention of the word.
Crawford had the following to say in retort to The Boston Globe's Nunya Biznass' question of whether or not the Coach believed the Phantoms could now make the playoffs after a bitter 20-7 defeat that knocked them down to 3-6:
"What?!?! What!?!? What the fuck do you think I think? Of course we can make the playoffs! We're two games behind in our division with seven games of football left and a relatively healthy squad. Why would I think we wouldn't make the playoffs? That makes absolutely no fuckin' sense to me! I hand picked this squad not three months ago. Are you saying that in the course of three months I've lost confidence in my ability to scout talent...or....or coach football? 'Cause I assure you I've not!
Hey! Hey! You asked me a question. Don't fuckin' look away when I'm talking to you!
This team can match up with any in the league and our destiny is in our own hands. I have full confidence in our players and coaching staff and that we'll pull out of this mess. Why else would I be coaching this team?"
Coach calmed down shortly after and was much more at ease answering SLC's Jimmy Somelove's question on the Lawrence QB situation:
"I don't believe there is a situation. Your home team is the Stallions. You must be familiar with the term Get back on that horse. This is no different. Barring injury Tobias is going to be the starting QB for the Phantoms for a very long time. One performance, neither bad nor great, won't effect that. Yes, he threw 4 INT's this last week. However we expect him to throw 4 TD's next week. You gotta bounce back and we expect Tobias to do that."
