Fans around the New Jersey area are getting excited about the start to the upcoming Imperial league draft. The Newark Bulldogs have traded their way into the #1 overall selection in this year's draft. It's widely speculated that the Bulldogs will use the pick to select the overwhelming favorite, RB Alan Crespo. Crespo had an amazing combine where he impressed scouts with his strength, speed, and agility.
Crespo gives the Bulldogs the RB which they've wanted since GM Matt took over the Bulldogs in early 2003. Crespo will allow the Bulldogs to have better ball control and open up the passing game for newly acquired QB Nelson.
While Crespo appears to soon be wearing the Bulldogs jersey, it won't be offical until draft day.
"I don't think it's fair for all the young men in this talented draft to come out this early and say that we've chosen Crespo. But on the same hand Crespo fits well with what we're trying to do here." says GM Matt
If indeed the Bulldogs pick Crespo, what direction is the team looking to go with their 2nd 1st rnd pk?
"We'll have to see. We have a lot of holes to fill. I'm not opposed to taking any position. We just need good young football players."
