  • Assassins Celebrate Awards

    Oakland Press, Oakland, Ca

Despite the dismal 6-10 record, the Assassins were rewarded for their efforts when the league wide awards were announced. Raking in 5 awards this year, the team feels justified and is ready to compete hard to improve upon that next year.
"We are still very young, and working hard to improve year in and year out, however, this years awards reflected the hard work our players have put into the year, including mini-camp, training camps, drills, 2-a-days in August when everyone wanted to pass out from exaustion.......add to that the effort not being rewarded with wins.......it made for a very tough year. However, they know its a learning process and spirits are high for this years camps as we get ready to start the season".
Without any more delay, lets congratulate this year winners!

    Defensive Player Of The Year
All League First Team Inside Linebacker

    Ken Allmon

Smashing his way to 131 tackles 48 assists and 2 sacks, Ken terrorized opposing offenses all year long. Teams were forced to play away from him as he has a nose for the ball, and appears out of nowhere to make the key run stops and disrupt the passing game.
Ken will remain the team captain, and leader of the defensive on and off the field this year has Oakland continues its run for the IFL bowl.

    Offensive Rookie Of The Year
    Wesley Connell

While most discounted Connells acclomplishments, he indeed had a terrific year, accounting for 954 yards rushing 8 touchdowns, while catching 30 passes for 216 yards and another 2 touchdowns.
Wesley was a huge part of the offensive despite the late season move to more of a vertical game. We expect 2005 to be a break out year for Wesley as he is intent on making fans and coaches forget the name, Tart.

All League First Team Defensive End
    Derek Nelson

The Oakland coaching staff decided Derek was more suited to RDE halfway through the season, and were they ever right! Having his best year yet, Nelson ran wild for an amazing 81 tackles, 34 assists, 11 sacks, 7 blocked passes and 18 hurries. Starting only his 5th year, its scary to think what he has in store for opposing offensives this year.

All League Second Team Wide Reciever
    Ernest Martinez

Want to hear tough? Everything that Martinez has acclomplished, has been rookie quarterbacks attempting to get him the ball behind rookie offensive lines, and still, Martinez continues to dazzle, making opposing cornerbacks, young and old, look bad! Entering only his 3rd year in the league, Ernest has 126 catches for 1927 yards and 8 touchdowns. With the QB position now being manned by rookie phenom Gene Hamilton for the rest of his career, he will be something to watch as the years go by.

(Note: This post in no way takes away from the acclomplishments of the players or GM's of the teams that were voted the awards by the league. I have been rather quiet this year, and needed an excuse to post and keep people updated on the Oakland team. So, no disrespect is intended by using the game generated awards  )

Seriously, why doesn't anyone give a shit about showing the view of their scouts? How are those player cards necessary when we've all got the game?

I use it when writing an article to give a face to a name, rather then just posting boring stats that no one really gives a shit about anyway. Who wants to read an article referring to players that no one can see? My other option would be to go through the internet and find player pics to use for my articles, but this, in my opinion, is much more interesting.

You gonna start posting screenshots of your gameplan when you next refer to it then? You know, rather than just talking about boring statistics and percentages.

Isn't this game all about boring statistics and numbers? And, for the record, I havn't checked out all the award winners this year, but I want to see the numbers that they put up, not just red and green lines.

I can see if someone gets weird if someone posts the stats of other players, but what harm is done if someone posts their view of their own players?

Gives you an idea of how their scout views players compared to your scouts view. Why care who your scout is if you know how other guys scouts rate players?
My banner is bigger and prettier and cooler then yours. I choose not to show it so your feelings do not get hurt.

                      I'd never do it.

It makes a big difference. My scout change this offseason showed a change in 2 guys by 6 future points.
                      That's a 6% difference

But that only hurts the GM that posts their own players' stats. Certainly nobody is going to base their scout hiring on whether or not Jave posts screenshots of his players.

                          No, you're right.
Sov was just asking if he's the only one that cares to keep his "scout's view" private.

ROFL, jesus, whats the big deal anyway? I could see if I posted the scout view of a player I was attempting to trade, but entering the 3rd year, it must be obvious by now, I don't trade players very often, if at all.
                            I must be missing something......................
