After 4 years of mediocrity in Arizona, head coach John Feliciano was fired last night. Feliciano was the Offensive Coordinator for the Houston Renegades, and his spread offense was something that the Wolfpack was trying to implement after Terrance Porcher failed to make the playoffs in 2032 with a 4-12 record. In his first year, Feliciano led the team to a 9-7 record, but didn't make the playoffs. Over the next 3 years, the Wolfpack did not have a winning record culminating last year with a 4-12 record. Argot admitted that firing Porcher was probably a knee jerk reaction and should not have even endeavored with the Feliciano experiment. Porcher went on to win two Division titles with Cleveland while the Wolfpack suffered. Porcher was recently hired by the Portland Seals after Cleveland failed to make the playoffs last year.
While it is still unknown, the Vancouver Killer Whales, a division rival, may have interest in Feliciano as their Offensive Coordinator.
When asked about who the new coach for the Arizona Wolfpack would be, Argot said, "We're looking for a Defensive minded coach, and our Secondary needs help." Don't be surprised if the light shines on USC coach, Nolan Lawson. Lawson led the Trojans to their second consecutive National Championship last year, and sources close to him, says he may be looking at a chance in the big leagues.
In other news, the Wolfpack said goodbye to nickel cornerback Steve Cadrez. Cadrez was drafted in 2026 by the Wolfpack in the 5th round and is ranked 7th all time in passes defended with the Wolfpack. Steve was only able to play 6 games in 2036, and decided that now was the time to hang up the cleats. Max Manning, journeyman runningback, also retired, after Arizona management refused to negotiate a holdout contract last year. Manning finally came back to work, after missing 4 games. He only rushed for 296 yards.
It is rumored that the Wolfpack will slap Defensive End Jeremiah Beyer with the Franchise tag. Beyer was drafted 3rd overall 5 years ago, and could not reach an agreement last year that would not put them over the salary cap. If franchised, Arizona could renegotiate a longer year contract now that cap room has freed up, or use him as trade bait. Beyer had 8 sacks last year and 59 tackles.
Also on the trade block are Wide Receivers Shannon DeAngelis and Matt Connolly. Both are in their 10th year, and the Wolfpack may be in rebuilding mode.
