In the fine tradition established by Columbia and Houston I'm joining the fray and posting a running commentary of Little Rock's 2032 Offseason.
Feel free to comment, I won't be offended :-)
TRADES
WR Luther Baez, 4th year, (57/57)
With a persistent cap problem, some expensive veteran stars and with a number of starters to be renegotiated next year the Thunder was forced into trading WR Luther Baez.
Baez was in the last year of his rookie deal and was chasing a 4 year/$40M deal that would have made it difficult to extend the contracts of SLB Justin Cole, LT Charles Footman and RG Bo Aranha next year. As tough as it was to let him go the call was made that saw Baez, pick 1.17 and a pair of 6th rounders traded to London in exchange for picks 1.10 and 1.24.
For London, Baez is an affinity match for Receivers Leader Walter Malone and will also move straight into the starting lineup where he should become veteran QB Danny Oulette's top target in 2032.
For Little Rock the top 10 pick gives us a shot at drafting an impact player while the extra first rounder lets us secure what we hope to be a solid starter at another position of need.
TE Frank Catalano, 9th year (51/51)
A great option in the passing game that struggled to get targets from Thunder QB Albert Gianettino, Catalano was only middling as a blocker and not a great fit for Little Rock's run-oriented offense. Add to that the fact that he was in the final year of his current contract and was looking for a 3 year/$22M deal and management made the call to move in a new direction at the TE position.
In Las Vegas a surfeit of DTs and no clear starting calibre TE on the roster led to a number of calls and deal was quickly struck that saw Catalano and a 2033 7th rounder being exchanged for DT Eddie Collier. While not a star player, with cap-friendly numbers over the next three years and a pass rush strength of 80, Collier provides the Thunder with depth at a position of need and will be handy as a nickel sub inside pass rusher.
FIELD UPGRADE
Yes, the "Monstrous Midway", the field that ended the season of multiple players last year has been replaced! The offseason building project sees the turf of William Jefferson Clinton Stadium now rated as excellent and should alleviate the fears of the home team as they prepare for a push into the playoffs in 2032.
