With the 17th pick in the fourth round the Columbia Fire select - Julian Thomas - CB - Auburn

Thomas, like Borders, joins a powerful secondary in Columbia. Thomas will likely fall in a nickel and dime depth for the Fire and could push for playing time depending on how he develops. But his upside is promising.

With the 11th pick in the fifth round the Columbia Fire Select Amos Sawczyn - TE - Southern Mississippi

Amos joins a team looking for an identity at the TE position. The team has managed meager stats and production out of this position year after year. Sawczyn brings good size to the TE position and could easily push for the starting job. Columbia keeps its trend of not spending much at the TE position, since the position is not very strongly included in their offensive schemes.

Very interested to see how CB Thomas develops. Pretty good bars in key areas and decent combines, he could be a steal for a 4th rounder.

With the 27th pick in the sixth round the Columbia Fire Select - Roderick Fisher - CB - Michigan

Secondary was a major concern for the Fire going into this season. Not so much from a starters role, but back up depth. The addition of Fisher is to provide the team with depth at the CB spot behind this years starters. There is hope that Fisher can excel in the Nickel and Dime packages.

With the 28th pick in the seventh round the Columbia Fire select - Dustin Yarmak - CB - Southern Mississippi

Yarmack becomes the 4th defensive back taken in this years draft by Columbia. There are rumors that he may slide to Saftey due to his coverage skills and big hit ability. A lot will depend on how good a camp he has and if this late rounder can beat some of the established vets on the team.
