  • Breakdown of 2nd half Officiating

This is a breakdown of the 2nd half calls against Oakland. Lets start with ZERO flags in the 1st half. In control of the game leading 21-3. Bills get the ball first.

    1. Right off the bat, a PI against CJ giving them around 17 yards and a 1st down. I have no problems with this call. It was obvious.

    2. How bout a non call? The bomb to DMoore with 3:28 left in the 3rd. According to the NFL rule book:
Actions that constitute defensive pass interference include but are not limited to:

    (a) Contact by a defender who is not playing the ball and such contact restricts the receiver’s opportunity to make the catch.
    (e) Cutting off the path of a receiver by making contact with him without playing the ball.

They got in front of DMoore and just slowed down. That's a clear PI

Another non call that was fairly obvious. 3rd down and 8. 2:43 left in the 3rd, Raiders leading 21-17. This ones a slam dunk interference on DMAC
Actions that constitute defensive pass interference include but are not limited to:
    (d) Extending an arm across the body of a receiver thus restricting his ability to catch a pass, regardless of whether the defender is playing the ball.
    (f) Hooking a receiver in an attempt to get to the ball in such a manner that it causes the receiver’s body to turn prior to the ball arriving.

OR...on the same play, how bout roughing the passer?
Here you see on the same play, Campbell throwing the ball, standing there watching it and 95, AFTER the ball was thrown, grabs Campbells legs and pulls them out from under him:

All while the ref just stands there and watches. "Nothing to see here, move along now".

At the end of the 3rd quarter Kelly sacks Fitz, making it 3rd down and 19ish...around the 21 yard line. A completely unnecessary call on McClain, gives them first down on the 11. I watched it a few times. There was minimal contact, it barely moved the receiver off his route. I've seen that a dozen times a week in the NFL. It's never called. It's football. This is a contact sport. All kinds of contact goes on downfield. Ever watch a receiver and defender fighting for position? It gets nasty. That ref, here, and also in Denver calls anything and everything against us. That brings us to the phantom TD.
Did you see the Bills racing to kick the extra point? Yea, I'm guessing Jackson told them to because he didn't get in. That play was NOT reviewed. It was not a touchdown no matter how many times I watch it. That gives the Bills the lead at 24-21.

(4th qtr 13:15)Then we have a LATE, mysterious holding call on Hagen???!!!!???? I watched it a few times and they never even showed Hagen. It was a run by DMAC, I never even saw Hagen on the screen, so I have no idea how he held.
(McFadden scores to make it Oakland 28 Buffalo 24)

(4th qtr 5:35)Now heres a big one. The Raider defense stuffs em on 1st and 2nd down. On 3rd down Fitz overthrows his receiver and sure enough...BAM, a flag come out. Holding defense. They replayed it and I have this to say. The defender is allowed to make contact within 5 yards. He was within 5 yards, and the acting job by the receiver should win an award. How is CJ's hands up around his helmet and this guy falls to the ground? Reminds me of some of the acting I see in the NBA. That was 2 stops by the defense and that SAME REFEREE finds some reason to throw a flag. AGAIN, a fresh set of downs and again, the Bills score.

This is as much as I can stomach. This entire game was controlled by that ONE ref. He bailed out Buffalo time and time again insuring the win. I hope someone meets him on the streets and kicks the snot out of him.

The hail mary? I didn't watch that far cause when I saw they were going to score I just turned it off. I didn't include holding on 2 different defenders on Spielmans(?) long run in the 3rd. The ref isn't going to throw the flag unless Moore had caught it. Then of course, trust me, he would have thrown it. He wasn't going to let Oakland win.

The Bills definitely got some help from the refs in this one, but still...5 straight TDs? Shouldn't have happened. The defense was helpless in the second half and made numerous mistakes...like three dropped INTS. McClain was lost and missing tackles left and right. McFadden's fumble. We f#cked up. No excuses. Even with the penalties, the team jacked this one up on their own.

The Bills should feel lucky that they walked away with a win on this one.

This isn't me vs Buffalo. This is me vs that cocksucking ref. The same ref who threw 15 flags on us last week follows us cross country and throws almost 10 more. The guy obviously has it in for Oakland.

            lol

As a Titan fan I feel your pain. Couple of real ticky tack personal fouls against Tennessee vs the ratbirds. One FS Griffin attempting to make a tackle and the WR lowers his helmet into Griffins helmet and draws a flag. Griffin was so late all he could do was attempt the tackle the WR could have avoided the helmet to helmet. The other one, and this one really was ticky tack, Flacco was stripped and then he jumped on the ball near the LoS. A Titan, from underneath an OLman, downed him attempting to grab the fumble, and a split second later another Titan landed on Flacco while grabbing for the ball. It was total bang-bang and no way a flag should have been thrown. Plus I thought the QB lost his sissy status when he becomes a RB by picking up a fumble. If Flacco don't want too be hit he should not grab the ball. Of course we all know the rules are totally dependent upon the teams/players involved.

Take Ray 'super juicer' Lewis. No way that guy is not juicing like mad. But NFL has never done anything too him other than throw a get out of jail free card his way.

            rant over - lol

I don't have Game Rewind, and the screenshots really show nothing to be honest. I'm sure you feel screwed, and maybe you were, but - and same with the phantom TD thread - it's hard to get a real view of a penalty from 1-3 screen snaps.

One thing to keep in mind, a big decisive factor in PI calls for refs are whether or not the defensive player is playing the ball or the receiver. In your second example, both guys are watching the ball, so the refs give the DB some leeway to try and make a play on the ball. There is nothing in those 2 shots that show DPI to me. Real time may look more like it, but not those shots.

The hit on the QB. I see nothing wrong there either. Yea, he was tackled at the knees and I hate those hits.. but Brady nearly got his ACL snapped again last night with no call.

Again, with the video, it would be easier to see if it was late/dirty though.

The penalty on Tyvon Branch which should have been a fumble by Buffalo was huge too.
