  • Madden 2005

Received the latest installment of Madden for Christmas. It's pretty good, but I find setting up a consistent running game to be way too hard. Holes are just not there like they were in 2004. And the Passing game seems to easy. Quinn is about the 5th best passer in the Pro level franchise. Now that's just not right.

    Anybody else see this?

I like it. Running the ball is very difficult. I also find that I have a problem getting sacked a lot. It is a pretty enjoyable game for the most part.
NCAA is fun also. My game crashes a lot though and it takes the enjoyment out a little.

I picked up Madden 2004 and NCAA 2004 last year for the PS2. But getting the PS2 out, loading up a franchise, and actually playing takes forever. So this year I have Madden for the PC, load times are much more reasonable. Now if I could just get the No-cd crack to work.

Yeah, I got them both last year on PS2. Didn't get either this year, as my personal rule dictates. I do NOT buy the same game two years in a row for playstation, unless it is a completely new game like GTA games. This is basically my sports games rule........

Although i am now pissed that EA is trying to buy exclusive rights to everything, so Iam hoping SEGA/ESPN has a College football game again next year, so I can buy that.

I love the NCAA series, but I just got Madden for Christmas and this year's Madden is far superior to NCAA. The passing game is much more realistic, and in NCAA all you have to do to run is bounce it outside every play. If you try that in Madden you aren't going anywhere, you actually have to find the holes.

I love Madden 2005. As far as the running game goes, I find that the big thing is timing when you make your burst through the hole. I tend to wait till I see my opening then cut and slam sprint and it works out well. I play the Panthers and I average over 150 yds a game on the ground on All-Pro.

I may have to try another team. . because the only holes I see are the ones the D is coming through

Double TE formations are a big help too, as is a good FB. The Panthers are great for both.

I have had success in the Pro-I, I also like screen passes too, which seem to work well in this version if you catch the D off gaurd. The 2 TE formations are rough though, the D usually moves 8 into the box, so I end up throwing.

I get Madden every year and love it more each time.

I like to do a fantasy draft selecting all the worst players in the game for my team and then build a team strictly through the draft. There's a LOT of lopsided losing involved but when the wins start coming in it's very rewarding.

Roadrash, try playing on All-Pro (with A.I. sliders adjusted to give you a realistic game based on your playstyle) instead of Pro. I believe that it's the highest representation of the games A.I. (on All Madden the PC's players just get a boost to all their ratings). You should find passing more realistic. However passing will always be easier than it should be in console games as long as we can play QB with a birds eye view of the field.

Bears are a great rushing team but the fact that the defense keys in on the run due to not having a passing threat can stall the run game.

Yeah, I've actually found that the best way to get a good running attack going is by getting a passing attack going (I've been playing as the Chargers).

I increased Ints by about 15% on the slider, dropped break blocks down and am now doing much better. I think Thomas Jones is now actually averaging close to 100 yards per game. Pre mod it was about 40. And Jonathon Quinn's QB rating is slowly going down the toilet where it should be. I don't see how Madden came up with a value of 72 for him.

I'm 6-1 with the Giants up next. My Pass D is so-so but my Run D is solid. Which is odd considering the struggles the Bears had this season.

The way I play, every year I win the conf, I increase the AI Opponent sliders by 10 to make it harder. Havn't figured out the Hit Stick, and am still a bit slow in coverages on D. But I'm getting there.
