Question for you guys. I just changed my ram. Now when I start my computer and get the windows splash screen that has the little status bar i'm getting artifacting and downright not right graphic glitches. My friend says that that is a ram issue and not a video issue. What say you?

Best thing to do is, remove one stick of the ram and see if the problems persist. Normally you can test the ram stick by stick until you find the offending module. Rarely will you have more then one bad stick of ram.
It still sounds to me like a video card issue, but since you just replaced the ram, that's the first thing you should test.

Well..........ok, heres the full thing of what happened.
1. Opened computer to replace hard drive.
2. Buddy took out stick of ram "just to look at it".
3. Computer wouldn't start.
4. Got 2 new sticks of ram and put them in slots 1 and 2. Computer still wouldn't start.
5. Put the new ram in slots 3 & 4.
6. Computer started but had splash screen artifacts.
7. Computer froze and then wouldn't start. Unplugging and restarting got it going a few times but it would freeze again.
8. Finally got it started stable but suddenly it didn't recognize my video card.
9. Unplugged keyboard (this had been a weird issue with me before) and restarted computer. Everything recognized and worked fine.
10. Restarted it today after 3 days of working because my buddy turned down my agp allowance from 128 to 64 and i wanted to put it back.
11. Computer on reboot didn't recognize keyboard. Unplugged and restarted, changed agp and booted up. Working fine now.
The constant i can't change is the artifacting and weirdness on splash screen. Video has played fine though. So yeah. lol.I luv British womenz.

Odd. Could be that some of your RAM slots are not working properly. I would try rebooting with RAM in different slots to determine which ones are wonky.Originally posted by Suicane View PostWell..........ok, heres the full thing of what happened.

probably not gonna work but try unseating and reseating video card - assuming there is a video card and not intergrated.
Of course your description of your issue it really does appear to be more than one variable, but to troubleshoot effectively you have to narrow down to one thing too test.
