  • PFS - Professional Football Simulator???

Anyone checked this out? Is it a FOF-alternative at all? Personally, I have no problems with FOF, but many of you seem frustrated with it.

If PFS is an OOTP for football I would be very interested. I want customizable leagues etc, but from the screenshots of PFS, the only thing the game has on FOF right now is a slicker interface.

I haven't checked the demo yet, but I've been investigating it some, and there are several interesting things about it.

        Advantages over FOF
        1 - Customizable league formats
2 - Created with multiplayer leagues in mind
        3 - Better interface
4 - Seems like it's multiplatform (Mac, Linux, Windows)
5 - Much richer HTML output
        6 - VERY ACTIVE developer
        7 - Cheap, only $25

        Disadvantages
        1 - Since it's primarily MP, the SP-parts aren't very developed
2 - Not very tested, still in an early development stage

I checked out one of the online leagues. Looks like they need to work on the passing game, leading QB has a 70s rating, and the running is even slightly low IMO

          still looks interesting

Played around with the demo a little bit.. it's built in .net (WPF to be exact) and is a pretty slick, yet not so intuitive, interface. The entire application has a web-site feel to it, which is alright by me.

I created a league in sandbox mode, and there were lots of options to customize; league size, salary cap level, roster size, practice roster size etc.

The league started with a complete league draft, and I had the option to start with a draft file or with generated players.

I started a "sim entire season" but then my computer crashed (not the game's fault, I've been getting quite a few BSDs with Windows 7 lately, no fun at all).

Judging by the tests though, FOF is definately a more solid option - so far. However, PFS is built by someone who played in MP-leagues with FOF and found it lacking, and this is obvious. I think that down the line, Jim should be worried. This product definately has the opportunity to become the OOTP of football.

I saw that there is "expansion" available. Bit of a work around but it is incorporated. Basically, I don't have .net so still not demo'd myself, at EoS, before hitting new year. Go into commissioner mode and change league structure. Move teams from div to div, conf to conf ect., any additional slots will become "expansion" teams. Apparently can have FA drafts for expansion team ect...

Interesting. The developer, Brooks, is very active. constant micro updates.

Intriguing. With this and HeavyReigns new game I may actually get into this whole gaming thing again. A man can only play so much Starcraft.

After years of watching my loaded team/Defense go no better than ~500, I'm open to try new things :-)

Anyone try this out further? I haven't, but I noticed that they have a 2D game viewer now.

The defense appears to be in a Nickel set-up with a SS as the NB... not the best choice against a team with a WR who can run-block a SS, FS, SS, & LB by himself!!! rofl
