So, I don't know how often I mention it here but I am really into building my own computers. I build this one by hand. I actually started 2 or 3 years ago but lately have just made some changes. Here is the current setup:

    Silverstone TJ-02 Tower case

MSI K8N Neo 4 Platinum Motherboard

My original CPU was the AMD 3700+ I recently upgraded to the AMD Athlon 64 FX-55 2.6GHz Processor

(No, I didn't pay $900 for it, I just used the first link I saw).

    2 GIGs Corsair TwinX memory

Maxtor DiamondMax 300 GIG hard drive

I just replaced my XFX 7800 GT with:
    XFX GEForce 8800 XXX 320MB
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814150173

And last but no least, my power supply I also went with SilverStones:
    SilverStone Zeus ST52F
    http://www.svc.com/sst-52f-41.html

Well, while playing EQ2 the other night my computer would keep shutting down every so often. Not crashing, just a complete shutdown. Well, after doing a bit of research, I am thinking that even though my PS is 520 watts, it's still not enough amps per rail to power the new video card. My current PS only has 16amps on the 12V rail so it's once again time to upgrade.

    I just purchased:
    SilverStone Decathlon 850Watt
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817256022

The new PS has 70, yes seventy amps on the 12volt rail. Now that outta do it!!

What was the purpose of this entire thread? SHRUG, games are not till 7 so what the hell was there to do? Ohh, and if your going to upgrade to one of the new super video cards, make sure your power supply can handle it!!!!

Ohh I forgot to mention the best part. The new PS has removable cables so you only have to plug in the ones you need. So instead of finding a place for the 25 or so power cables your not using, you just don't plug them in. Keep them in the storage bag until you do. So in my case, I only have to plug in 3 cables and route them correctly. Makes for increased air flow and a hella cleaner more organized case. I love it!!

I agree about that style PS, but I have never used one. Will definatly consider it the next time I need one or am building a box. Probably won't be building for at least a year probably more like 2 or 3. I hardly ever upgrade just one level up. Usually keep working hardware until there is two generations of improvement and then I need it to be a bang for buck deal - lol

      yeah I'm that cheap.
