i have the chance to trade for Reggie Bush in my fantasy league. The thing is, I have to take Colston with him. What's the low down on these guys? what's different from last year? Are they both ready to explode?

    thanks buddy.

if you help me win, I can get you a cut of some canadian money. with the exchange, you'll make out like a bandit. What is the world coming to when the cdn $ is worth more than the US$?

Beware: One game does not mean that the Saints of '06 are back but the Seattle game has brought the glimmer back. Here are some thoughts. Unfortunately, I do not know your fantasy league scoring rules or set-up, but here goes.

Deuce is out; and Reggie will get more touches than ever before. That means more rushing yards, more receiving yards, more catches and more opportunities to score. The talent is definately there for him to break a long one on any play. He is also the feature player that Peyton has been committed to use .. either as a decoy or as the real deal. He still dances too much for my way of thinking and until he employs the blocking schemes in front of him, starts to cutback and stop trying to be the Reggie Bush show with his outlandish speed ... he will never explode.

Colston -- clearly the best talent in the receiving corp ... but he will not get the touches. 1. Colston is getting the double teams and this works to Peyton's and Brees way of thinking. That means that someone else is being singled and that is the receiver that Brees will find and throw to. 2. Brees likes to spread it around. The man that is doubled is the last person he will throw to. 3. Also, Brees prefers to throw underneath rather than go downfield .. Colston is the downfield guy and so he becomes the decoy once again. 3. Colston will be most effective on the goal line where his size and height can be used for an advantage on a short out patterns and where there is single coverage. Brees will use Colston upon occasion in this situation, but again, Peyton prefers the gadget plays ... end arounds, misdirection with the fullback coming out of the backfield etc. Colston may work ok in the Saints system as a decoy but would be a terrible pickup in the fantasy world.

I don't know who you are giving up in the trade and perhaps you have other recieviers that you can just sit Colston. Bush is going to get you running and receiving yards, every game, and a fair share of TD opportunities in both venues as well. Colston is another story.

      we have a different system
it's a keeper league where we are allowed to keep 1 guy per position, up to 4 players a year. Each player has a 3 year contract that he maintains. Additionally, we have a rookie draft every year where we draft 2 players from the NFL draft. We have 5 spots to hold rookies, which do not carry a contract. In the offseason we are only allowed to carry 3 players, so we need to either drop 2, trade 2, or call up the rookies to the main roster which turns them into your keeper.

scoring system is set up to allow for dominant RB's.
      1pt for 10yds rushing
      1pt for 10yds rec
10pt bonus for 100yd game rushing
10pt bonus for 100yd game rec
      10pt rushing TD
      5pt rec TD
      -2pts for fumble lost

This is what I'm being offered

      Reggie Bush (rookie)
      Colston

      for

      Calvin Johnson (rookie)
      Javon Walker

seems easy, but I like Walker.

Keeper League ... hands down .. go get Bush. Colston wouldn't even be a bad pick-up for next year as a potential keeper (once the Saints get a comparable receiver on the other side of the line ... then the Colston numbers will jump). He is the real deal if thrown to.

In doing so, it looks like this might be a buildng year ... but getting Bush permanently is pretty attractive in my opinion. Bush has a great attitude and wants to be the best ... his work ethic is outstanding ... so for the future, you are getting a blue chipper.
