The Phillies are going to be horrible this year. They have no bullpen at all and their lineup has the same problems they had when I last watched baseball reguarly back in 05, which is to say that they are very much a station to station team once Rollins and Utley are done.

Burell, Rowand and Victorino are an abysmal offensive outfield who all lack the ability to do any one thing excellently. Seriously, the offense from 5-9 is creeky as all hell.

And the bullpen, oh the fuckin bullpen. The starters arn't gonna be anything special either. I have no idea how this team was getting so much pre season pub but the Marlins and Mets are heads and tails above them in the East.


The Padres (whose pitchers I was very high on in my fantasy league), look to be about as anemic an offensive club there is. They'll need amazing pitching to win alot of games, luckily their division sucks.

It would not at all shock me to see the Rockies contend for a division title.

The Cardinals OF sucks. Duncan has potential, but is raw defensively. Edmonds is old. Wilson/Encarrcion plain suck.

Cardinals are a Chris Carpenter injury away from 75 wins.

Defensively they are a very good team. Gold Glovers all over the place.

When each of your games doesn't even count for 1% of your season you've got an extremely watered down schedule.

Sad, since the sport could be fun to watch. If they cut a walk from 4 balls to 3, a strikeout from 3 strikes to 2, and cut the season to about 30-40 games I'd not only watch baseball, but perennially buy a baseball console game.

As it is I'm "this" close to buying a game each year as they look GREAT but I know that I'm realistically not even going to finish a season.

ditto. same thing for basketball. i loved the lock-out shortened season when it was like 52 games. that was awesome.

they really need to get away from having 1 stadium for each team per city (except for places like MSG with the Knicks and Rangers). have one mega stadium to house all the pro teams (football, baseball, hockey and basketball). each sport would last 1 season. that'd be awesome. football in the summer, baseball in the fall, hockey in the winter and basketball in the spring. to have one stadium for just football is a complete waste - you're talking 8 regular season games and maybe 12-14 games total factoring in preseason and playoffs.

That's the same reason I probably won't get one. I'd like to finish seasons, I hate simming through games, but 162 is too long. I think you have the option to shorten the schedule in those games, but it just won't feel the same.
