Hi, I won't tell you my exact name but I'm a pick in the top 5. I'm your backup plan for the next 6-7 years.

Try top 25 pick and you would be correct.Originally posted by JesterBlazeHi, I won't tell you my exact name but I'm a pick in the top 5. I'm your backup plan for the next 6-7 years.
And I am excited because who the fuck is Rodgers and what has he ever done? Favre is a better QB at this point in his career then Rodgers will be after a couple seasons of starting.
And I think the Packers feel the same because they made it very clear after the season that they wanted Favre back.My banner is bigger and prettier and cooler then yours. I choose not to show it so your feelings do not get hurt.

Thats my point exactly. They wasted a 1st round pick on the dude and now he gets to sit there and watch the utter epitomy of a "middle of the road" team, languish in medicority while Bret whizzes the ball around to a rag tag collection on offensive players and a .500 at best defensive unit tries to stop the opposition.Originally posted by CringerTry top 25 pick and you would be correct.Originally posted by JesterBlazeHi, I won't tell you my exact name but I'm a pick in the top 5. I'm sounding like a cunt now, lol. But i'll be honest, i respect your heartfelt love of that team, but if they were my team i'd have started pulling my hair out 3 years ago and be onto my pubes at this point.
I understand that the dude is a legend but this team should of moved on 3 seasons ago and started rebuilding. The 49ers for fuck sakes are in prime position to be a very good team for a very long time thanks to the way they've tackled the rebuilding process while the Packers are somewhere between the ever horrid Lions and the ever adaquete Vikings in the scale of things.
I mean, you can't get shit for him now and at the best you can hope for is 9-7 and a first round playoff loss, and thats IF all the stars alligned in glorious fashion.
Just imagine if you will that you had gotten maximum value for him at the start of 2 seasons ago and began rebuilding. You'd have Rogers at QB and perhaps some quality young blocks to build around. Would you rather watch that then Bret? And thats an honest question cause i'll be honest with ya, I love Donovan McNabb, i've got a gay crush on the man and think he's awesome. But when it comes right down to it, I had zero problem watching Garcia lead the team in the stretch and the playoffs because i'm an Eagles fan first and foremost.
I understand that Packers fans adore Favre, but at what point do you put aside your love of watching him and get down to the gritty of your love for the team and whats best for your team? As I said, this team is going to be eternaly adaquate for as long as he's still at the helm and they're trying to stop gap every season that he returns, to the point of missing out on some key rebuilding years just so a couple of times a year you can say, "wow, Bret looked great today, what a joy it is to watch him play".
Im so fuckin high right now.I luv British womenz.

Ok, point taken....but, as a Packer fan I don't think the team has been mediocre because Brett has held them back. I think they were as good as they were in 2006 because of Brett helping get them there.
Yes the pick of Rodgers has pretty much been a waste. Then again I am not a big fan of GM Ted Thompson, who made that pick in his first year of being a GM. The Packers have had money, but have held back on spending it. It wasn't Favre eating up their cap money. It was Thompson not wanting playees like Longwell, Sharper, Rivera and others to stick around and get paid reasonable money. Too much my surprise Thompson did actually go out and sign what looked like a decent free agent last year in S Manuel. Unfortunately he wasn't as good as they hoped. They did spend some money on CB Woodson, who actualy played well.
The problem with the Packers the last few years was Sherman not being able to handle the GM/Coach role, and really blowing the GM side of it. That stared thing going downhill, especially on defense and at WR. Then Thompson came in and pretty much cleaned house, except for Favre. The point is they didn't have much in high priced talent on the team except Favre (and still don't), so they didn't need to get rid of Favre to be able to start rebuilding.
Thompson has said, as late as yesterday, that he has his plan and he is going by that plan. His main point he made is that the plan is the same with or without Favre. And as much as I hate to say it, I have to give Thompson and HC Mike McCarthy a little credit after going 8-8 last year when I was 99% positive they would be 2-14 to 4-12 because of the no names, has beens, and rookies they put out on the field.
Although maybe that is part of why I am happy if the Packers go 9-7 with a first round playoff loss in 2007. I hated Thompson and McCarthy for a long time, and was pretty damn sure they wuldn't do anything right.
Also, as I have said before, I don't care about Rodgers much. If Favre had retired the plan was probably going to be for the Packers to go out and sign a veteran QB. Atleast that is what is on the news. I just don't think the Packers have much faith in him.My banner is bigger and prettier and cooler then yours. I choose not to show it so your feelings do not get hurt.

The following is just adding to the general discussion on Rodgers, not pertaining specifically to your quote above.Originally posted by CringerAnd I am excited because who the fuck is Rodgers and what has he ever done? While I of course want Rodgers to fail it seems to me that he was drafted to eventually replace Favre and Favre hasn't retired so you can't yet call it a wasted pick. If, football gods forbid, he's the starter sometime this or next season and performs great then it'll be a perfectly timed pick IMO.
Of course I might be the only IFL GM that thinks I didn't waste a pick on Ike Jordan, QB.

Well, if Rodgers becomes a starter and performs well, before his first contract is up, then no it's not a wasted pick at all. I just feel it was.
In all honesty I have gone back and forth on Rodgers since the pick was made. I have liked him, then didn't care about the guy, then liked him, then didn't care.....
You don't hear very many good things abut the guy though, except that he has a great attitude and is very professional. My banner is bigger and prettier and cooler then yours. I choose not to show it so your feelings do not get hurt.
