  • Tech Question

    some of the people on here seem to be pretty knowledgeable about computer stuff so i figured id ask.
    i wanna get more RAM. how do i know what kind to get? like 184pin? 168pin? 240pin? not sure how to find that out. not sure what else i need to know. i want about 512-1gb more.
    ive got a dell (hell) optiplex gx-270 pentium 3.

    Go to your control panel, then system. A tab will pop up and tell you some system specs, RAM being one of them.

    Your model appears to take 184-pin according to crucial.com.

      Prices don't seem to have dropped since I last bought RAM, like 3 years ago.

        excellent advice. I use Crucial anytime I need RAM, even if I don't end up ordering from them.

          thanks. think i got it all figured out. just have to pop open the machine and make sure i have 2 slots open.

            Yea, for my current rig, I got 2 gigs of Corsair for about $133. Thats damn good considering a couple years ago that would have run ya three times that.
