        I am being sabotaged.

Just got the mail, I got a notification of possible jury selection at a future date. Which means I could be called in for jury duty within a week. I leave on Monday.

Nothing like getting off on the right foot by possibly having to make my new employer pay to fly me home and back when it's over, and all in the middle of when I am learning all the shit I have to learn.

Well, I think I could get out of it. The problem is that down here (not sure if it's different elsewhere, I have only had it down here) is that you can not give excuses until you are there in person. So I would have to leave the tour no matter what unless I find someone real nice to let me off via the phone.

I would think being a few states away on business would be a reasonable excuse. They could always put you on two or three in a week when you are back in town.

I have only been dinged once for JD and it was not fun at all.

Last time I got called for it (the only other time for me) we all got to go home because the case was called off.

Earlier this year my wife got on a murder case and she caused a hung jury.

Last week with Emerson was interesting. Second to last day of work for them and my name gets the call for the random drug screen.

Then we get some screwy load Thursday night/Friday morning, and I got to an Emerson facility north of Dallas I have never even been to in my 7.5 years. I guess they made it memorable.

It was a little odd coming home. My codriver had the last shift, taking us home the last 9 hours or so. I slept for about 4 of that, and the last 3 hours I spent sitting up front just BSing with him about stuff from the last 7 years. Kind of weird, because we both had daughters born and get older, bought our houses, and stuff like that. I was never good friends with the guy, but over 7 years of working (basically living) together still made us friends in ways I guess.

Then just going through Texas, down and up I-35, over from Laredo to home, is all shit I have done every week for 7.5 years. I know those roads and what is along them like my own neighborhood really. And it was odd to think that I don't even know when I will be driving in some of these places again. It could be years and years for some of those areas.

I guess I will miss it. As much as I wanted to make the change, and felt I needed to, it is weird as hell to think it's all over now.

And my schedule with the new job has changed some I guess. They had some last minute changes and I will be thrown into the fire right away from what I hear now. No near full week getting comfortable with the equipment and procedures, and then a week preparing for the tour. I get up there and the next day is some last minute conference for some vendors, and I guess I will have something to do with that. They also added that the truck will be on display for the end of the conference. Going to be hectic I guess.

1 day until a start the new job.

Hey Cringer you road with the same guy for 7+ years? That is bizarre to think about how much time you spent in the cab of a truck with the guy.

Are you hauling Mexicans or something?

Either way, I'm kind of jealous of being out on the open road in the southwest. Especially this time of year. I love winter in the desert. Second year in a row I didn't work from Nevada and decided to stick it out in New England. (Money.)
