Yet there was this: As the game mercifully wound to a close, several groups of 49ers and Raiders fans came together in the stadium's upper concourses. Not in battle, but in peace.
In a nod to the Bay Area's, er, colorful past, they fired up some illegal herb together and openly enjoyed themselves while San Francisco Police looked the other way.
"Why bother?" one officer said. "It's them, and 25 other groups in the stadium."
