  • Potential in FOF

Just wondering.. I remember a few years ago reading an interview with Arlie about TPF and potential. He said that potential is not just a number that the players might achieve one day, but sometimes when they're on the field they show "flashes of brilliance", meaning that particular play they're rated at their potential skill rather than their current skill.

Anyone have a feel for how Jim handles potential, other than as a roof for the skills? Could a promising young QB actually do pretty well in a single game, despite only being 18% developed?

I've wondered the same thing. I think it's possible, especially when you look at the young QB's who have had great games their rookie years despite low 'current', but they also had poor games. Caro had a 286 yard game in his 2nd career game, and two 2 TD games before his first 8 were up.

Last year Peterson had a 3 TD game in his 3rd game, and a 248 yard game vs Norfolk a few games later.

Looking at guys on the defensive line, Galles had 7.5 sacks last year. Cox had 3 by his 3rd game. Garnett 6.5..

So it's possible high potential means they can peak at that point, but 'current' is the level they play at on a consistent basis.
