  • Ok, someone explain it to me.....

IF there is no salary cap in place for this season, why wouldn't teams just go nuts and sign everyone they could to make a run at the championship? Why, if there is NO cap, do teams have to cut players? I am confused as to how this works I guess.

The way I understood things is that if no new CBA agreement is reached, there would be a lower-than-expected salary cap this year and no cap NEXT year.

There is a salary cap of around 95 million this year, which is roughly $10m less than 'expected' if the CBA isn't extended. Next season is the un-capped year.

Ahhh ok thanks. Well, I for one am hoping the CBA falls through. Skerry Collins still has a job in Oakland, and we need to send his ass packing. Seems the only way to do that is no CBA. I am sure this will not be good for the league, but it's good for Oakland fans everywhere, so let it be!

I thought Collins was cut. Was that cut undone?

I was told he was cut, so I raced home from work and.....................nothing. No news at all. They may be waiting for the final word on the CBA. Hmmmm going to have to research that a bit.

He was, but all cuts made that day were allowed to be taken back because they extended the deadline 3 more days.
