Yup, wife and kid gone and I wanted out of the house (still no TV).
So I look on a local board for the 'punk' and related music scene that I will visit sometimes. They have a section for shows, and woohoo, show starting in 30 minutes at the VFW in McAllen. (Yes VFW as in a Veterans of Foreign Wars Post hall).
So I head down there and wish I was later then the 30 minutes that I was. First band just getting going and they suck. I hate instrumental. It was ok for the first minutes now fucking sing because the instrumental is the same for 10 damn minutes. Anyways I was glad when they finished.
Band #2 was a little better but not much.
Band #3, now we are getting somewhere, it's still soft pussy music but atleast it is more interesting and different.
(By the way, this whole time I am sitting at the bar drinking beer. I went by myself after all)
Band #4 is finally something to llsten to. Hardcore band, guys are drunk as fuck. Hardcore is kickass when it is live.
Band #5 is the main headliner. They are from Austin, called Black Star Brigade. Straight up raw punk rock from guys who had to be closer to my age (28) and knew how to do it. They kicked ass, and had a little talk with AJ afterwards from the band, and got their CD for $5.
The only bad part about that was it was MY kind of music so I got into it and left the bar and wentup front, about 2 feet from the band. SOOO, of course that meant I got into the circle/pit dancing even though I wasn't looking for that at first because most of it was kids (teens). But after I had my nuts hit twice just being around the edge I figured I better jump in. Helped get over the nut pain by shoving some fuckers around. SOme of the bigger guys were getting in then too, so it was a damn good time.
Overall, two fights broke out and the crowd pretty much sucked. They were a pussy music crowd.
Still, good time. Although my throat hurts from all the damn smoke.
