So I'm going to this party on Sat for the PSU and I'm taking a female friend that I may want to date. So how do I introduce her?

"This is my friend..." - could send the message that I want to be friends, a message I don't want to send.

"This is..." - short and sweet, but invites questions.

Other? Thoughts?

Play it off as sort of a joke. Say, "Yeah, she's my girlfriend." Make sure you smile and look at her when you say it. You should get some signs from that.

Relax. Just yanking your chain. In all seriousness take the bull by the horns and just say she is a girl I just started dating. That is the truth and keeps you out of hot water. Just dont let the losers talk about any ex-gf stories to hammer you.

Here is a key to dating that I figured out too late to do much good. Confidence Confidence and more of it. Just dont be a jerk. If youre assertive about her being a new girlfriend when you introduce her and make it matter of fact she might just believe your story and be your girlfriend. IF you sound unsure then she may pounce on it and bail or yank you around.

Introduce her by name. If you remember her name you're already more than halfway home on the whole relationship. :P

If they ask if she's your girlfriend reply "No. I'm not that lucky." and read her for clues... as you should be doing all night anyways. And update your response (cause you're going to be asked by more than one person at more than one time throughout the night) each time based on her previous reaction. If you're getting positive signals left and right then I'd even answer with something like "If she plays her cards right" although that one can also blow up in your face if used on the wrong girl.

And the most important FACT that most guys forget is that she IS interested in you or she wouldn't be there, especially a 2nd time. There's nothing to find out on that note.

As dberner said be confident... but not cocky... and girls think of themselves as different from everyone else so remember she'll want a certain level of confidence from you towards "everyone else" and another (possibly different) level of confidence towards her... up to you to find out which is which.

And the old adage is true that if you're not yourself from the beginning then no long-term good can come of it. However I don't put much stock in long term relationship goals until if/when they've become long term relationships.


BTW - If you decide you don't want to continue things with her then when asked if she's your girlfriend say "No. I got some community service to pay off for my latest lewd and lacivious charges so I take trolls out on the weekends to give them a break from under the bridge."
